Used gooseneck trailer $$

im looking at a 99 Corn-Pro 20+5 dually trailer.with a winch, fair tires 10k axles paint is kinda rough lookin, what is a ballpark price for something like this?

The price of NEW trailers has gone up significantly in just the last few years, which has caused the price of a used trailer in GOOD condition to remain at pretty much what it sold for when new.

I would say 5-6K on the low side if it is real rough. $7-8 if just the paint is bad. They are over 10K new now.

Brought home a custom made GN, Load Max by Load Trail, 23+5,102" wide, triple spring loaded ramps, 2 steps, spare, winch plate(15K), 18 inch center cross members, torsion bar, 7K triple single axles, certified (down, by my choice) to 20K, toolbox, LEDs, for $6755.00, 2+3+2 yr. warranty.. Picked her up in Wichita Falls, TX at a dealer. Will install a 12K winch, add battery, chains, boomers, ratchets bought separately, roughly another 1000,- .... had looked at used ones, but for the price of a decent used one, I could get a new one. Found a triple single to be cheaper than dual tandem (though both have their +/-) and a better fit for me at this time.

I'm curious, what's the +'s of a triple axle trailer over a tandem dual axle trailer other than initial cost of the trailer?? Thanks,Jim

With triple axles the tires scrub more when turning, so the tires wear faster. Also when you get that many tires in a row and have a heavy load they want to go straight....and can get hairy when cornering on icy roads (easier to jacknife). of course you have two more sets of wheel bearings and brakes to worry about also.

I'm aware of the disadvantages. I thought I was asking Ralph what the +s(advantages) were other than a cheaper price. I also know the flat tire history on triple axle trailers.

Sorry, Jim, just overlooked your reply post earlier....
For me the initial price was very important. I was looking for a good used one but with prices near those of new ones for a decent unit, it was more but not terribly much more. Can buy cash. I had posted various posts in the tractor transporting section to get more feedback. Plus have a couple friends that have triple singles, 30 and 37+5 respectively. Your opinions may be different but changing tires on singles' easier , no inside tire, fewer tires, even though the front ones wear a bit faster, like the fact that you have more (front to back)of trailer on the road, though not that important on a shorter one (pulled both kinds to compare). All wooden deck, no metal over duals (again, depending on how you look at it,+/-; a + for me.)

I haul for myself Eldon, when the weather is that much in doubt, I stay home. And I usually jockey around the farm, about 50-60 mile radius. But thanks for pointing that out! Ralph.

I guess I can add another reason for me: 6 vs. 4 brakes.
Mine will have significant deterioration before they wear down, even with efforts to protect them, just not hauling that much, but enough to justify doing it on my own.
And with the huge price difference, I can buy several tires, brakes, and repack/replace bearings before "breaking even".
