7000 allis, black belly

After driving 300 miles hoping to get a deal on a great 1086 yesterday, only to not get it, Some one really wanted it, lack of supply up there I guess, and the fact that I cant seem to get local dealer to get back to me on a couple they have on the lot. I am shopping around.. Found a nice clean, later model Allis 7000 with 8000 hours, no power shift, power director maybe?, gotta go look at it. Like new tires hub duals, New 134A A/C and pump. Very, very clean tractor with a asking price close to $9000. I am an IH man, BUT, would this be a nice tractor for an 8 row planter, spreader, lighter tillage tractor? I am dealing on 5088-5288 tractors for the tillage tractor, but want a good planter tractor. Opinions?
The 06's and the rest of the herd will get cleaned up, fixed up, and sold. After I have the machines to get the work done. I have too much going on so when it is time to go, I want to go.

We had a red belly for years on a farm I worked on. It was always a good tractor, and everything I"ve heard is that the black bellys are the better ones to have.

If I remember right the black belly has a side console shifter, which is alot nicer for getting in and out of the tractor. Those cabs are kinda tight if you are a bigger guy, and having that shft lever between your legs is kindof a pain.
Alot of them still around tho, so that is a good sign.

Someone else can give you better advice about the particulars of motor, trans, rearend stuff, but if I were looking for a tractor in that size range, I wouldnt be afraid of one.

Only thing is, if you were looking for a 1086, you gotta be giving up a few ponies going to a 7000. But, you know what you can get by with and what you are using it for. Good luck BW

The 1086 I was after would have been for a tillage tractor. Made a deal about an hour ago on a 5088, that will be my main tractor for turning dirt, If I need bigger I will go to a 4x4 and larger impl. This 7000 would be an all around tractor, but once planting started that would be her job. Hmm, I had thought the later 7000 series didnt have a floor shifter, thought is was all on the side, I guess I better look closer. I HATE my oliver's location of that darned shift lever. Not sure I want to deal with that in another

neighbor has a 7060. has the power director trans, two buttons on floor on lt side of deck. cab is a little on the small side and only has the left side entry door. i ran it quite a bit for him pulling a v ripper. comfortable tractor, not hard to work on either. 7000 is about 100 hp or so. dont turn the pump up on em, the bottom end of the motor doesnt care for the extra hp.

the 7000 if it were me the experience i have had working on tractors my advice is run away far away from any 7000 allis now if its a7030 and above i say go for it but 8000 hrs on it a lot hrs.

Yes, it was in Deer River, was that BIG estate sale. The 1086 brought $15,000, I stopped at $14,500, started at $7000. If I could have gotten for $15,500, I would have taken it but it was very clean and mech perfect, not much on dealer lots up there, so I have a feeling that other guy was willing to go to $18,000+. 1440 Combine brought $5000, way too much for what I thought, I went to $3000. 706 brought $2700 and the 806 brought $3500(?), they were gassers but near perfect with like new rubber.

Dave I was only 20 miles east of there I was thinking of going and looking at the 4-18s plow. Wish i would have known you were going I coulda met up with you. Scott

I like your tractor purchasing theory, lol. Bought a 5088, may need a 4x4, and possibly getting a AC7000. Now, you just have to wait for the wife to forget you said you were gonna sell the 806 and 1206, and you are set.. At least thats the way I do it.. Can never have too many, you know.

This is no lie, my wife asked me why I kept putting duals on and taking them off my 806, which to her is the red one. Seems she hadnt walked out to the shed for quite a while and seen the 806 and the 1066 with duals that made its way into my possesion. She was just seeing whichever red tractor I happened to have out at the time. Guess I forgot to keep her in the loop. BW

Owned a 7000 red belly. No problems. As others say, heard the black ones are better. Why? I don"t know. Just what everyone says.

Around here there use to be and still are a fair amount of ACs. Neighbor was a dealer for a while. They still run a 7060 and a 7080. Big stuff is now JD since the son works for them now. The 7080 still runs across the field like a dream.

Around here cut your $9000 in half and you would be in the ballpark especially at 8K hours. Maybe $5,500 tops.

My two cents.
