Looking for my welder the other day...... Today, went to get a fence charger that I had laid on a wheelbarrow. Picked it up and the rag that was laying with it and there was the welder cables. Had put everything I needed that day in the wheelbarrow. Been walking by this thing twice or more a day and even moved it when looking the other day.... Now, if I could just remember what I needed it for  Just kiddin, but it's scary.....

I have this same problem all the time with my tape measure. Every time I measure something, I have to spend about 15 minutes looking for the tape. It drives me crazy. I'm only 27! I know I could wear it on my waist, but then it falls off or gets caught on stuff. I'm glad you found your welder though. :)

I got me one of them little leather pockets that go on your belt and just toss it in there when I'm done using it... does take a while to train yourself... I spent too many years just laying it down where I was when I finished using it... Note: It will fall out if you do any kind of acrobatics...

I've got a 'personalized' 3 lb shop hammer that someone was nice enough to do a neat TIG welded design on, along with my name, before throwing it out in the scrap yard before I found it. Anyway I "lost" it about three weeks ago and have looked high and low to find it with no success. Then, Monday I went to get the replacement 3 lb hammer I had put on my service truck out of the hammer drawer and instead grabbed my 'personalized hammer. I can only figure it was there all the time I was looking for it and I simply overlooked it the dozen or so times I looked in the drawer to get another hammer out. I knew I had been getting forgetful since hitting 40 but this really makes me feel like an idiot......

It don't get better. I'm 64. I lost my butt the other day and couldn't find it with both hands---

Lost my butt several times ! Have spent quite a bit of time in a tractor seat the last few days -- know right where it's at this mornin'. Now if I could find my small battery charger ! It "walked off" in january. Ken

I'm 63 and what seems to work well for me is I start the day with a pocket full of toy marbles. Every time I stop I leave a marble.
By the time my pocket is empty I know I've lost all my marbles and it's time to go take a break and work some more on those memory skills.

I bet I've got 20 tape measures, and can never find one when I need it. When I eventually find one, it's never alone. There's normally 2-3 in the same spot.

I bought a set of long pattern metric wrenches this last fall. They are in a nice long roll up pack. When I first got them I keep them on a shelf. I later cleaned out one of my tool boxes so I had room to put them in that tool box. I don't used them very often but I do need longer wrenches every now and then.

A few weeks ago I needed one of the wrenches in that set. I looked on the shelf and could not "find" the wrenches. I was PO. My boys are bad about not putting things back when they are done. I called all of them to see where my wrenches where. They all said they had not used them. I ended up taking a cheap wrench and welding a piece of pipe to it so it was long enough for what I needed to do.

Later that day one of my grandsons came over. I asked him if he had seen that wrench pack. He walked right over to the tool box and there they where.

The boys got a good laugh at the OLD MAN. They told me I was one more step on the way to being senile. Wife tells me I am all ready there. LOL.

Ohh soooo dittooo! Same here with tape measures! I try to keep one on each tractor, car, truck, house, barn, toolbox, shop, I even try to get my wife to carry one in her purse!(lol) .....I probably own a couple dozen by now, since when I look for one, NONE can be found. I even buy them cheap imports at the dollar store or get the freebee at HF (with coupon!), still no tape measures. Or to add insult to injury, now lately I need a 20+ foot one and the one I eventually find is only 16' !!! "roll" !!!

Jd..that's just a flat out funny story! YOu just KNEW one of the boys had it and then you just KNEW your grandson had it!! Yep........that's a funny (but true) story!! And, you're probably NOT going to get any better either.

Misplaced my safety glasses last November when we put the roof back on the barn. Found them a couple of weeks ago when I wasn"t even looking for them.

I"m bad about misplacing gloves, too. So I have a pair in every truck, the barn, and several pairs in the shop.

Misplaced my favorite pair of gloves when we took a tractor in to be repaired. Looked in the truck several times and finally decided I had set them on the trailer and they blew off somewhere between the tractor shop and home.

Two weeks ago James brought them to me. They were in the truck all the time.

At least it keeps life interesting.

My Come-a-long...
I use it about twice a year but when I need it, I need it. A few years ago I couldn't find it. Looked everywhere. Broke down and bought a new one, finished the task and the next day I found the first one.

I tend to be in such a hurry to find what I am looking for, I look right over it.

Can't count the number of times, I say to myself the tape measure "should be" right there. Look, its not, look four other places, come back and there it is, right in the spot it should be. Arrgghh.

I try to put away every tool I use at the end of each project. But, when you have 5-10 things going on at once, tools get scattered.

People that study such things think there could be as many as 27 different dimensions instead of just the 4 us common people know about. I've come up with this theory that things move between dimensions by themselves. What you're looking for is right where you put it, it's just 3 or 4 dimensions over so you can't see it. After awhile it cycles back and you can see it again.

I'm telling you - Buy two (or three or four) of everything, and store them in different locations.

It's more expensive, but being able to find everything without pulling your hair out will add years to your life.

Tape measures, 6" crescent, those stanley 4 way screwdrivers, LED headlamps, hoopicks, and leadropes..... can never find them, but have enough for every vehicle and several extras......

I like that dimension theory because it's real believeable...... Fits in with the other nutty things that happen around here....

I farmed most of my life and I started carrying a tape measure in my pocket when I was about 20. Am in my mid 70 s now & semi retired , but still carry a tape . Never carried a cresent wrench , pliers or knife. Always had a tool box on every tractor with a few tools in them. clint

Try living 45 miles from your farm shop, with a workshop in your house basement. Then there is the farm shop. Then two barns a mile apart. and finally the hunting cabin 3/4 mile from the farm shop. And several sheds, grain bins for storage and an old farrowing house full of junk.

I generally have 10 places to look.

The only thing i don't have to look for is the workbench,..the tools could be anywere
