OT: Freeze Watch

Dang it! The NWS just issued a Freeze Watch for SE MN tonight and tomorrow. After all this summer weather, it's going to be painful to watch the old reset button get pushed. Alfalfa is about a foot tall already in some fields too.

Ya I know what you mean. I am acrosse the river from you and we had a light touch this morning when I got up. I bet the apple growres are a little worried about this. Guess I will have to go out and cover up the rubarb.

I checked the weather today, we're gonna have a freeze tonight. Can't do much about it 1,500 miles away. Guess I'll find out what happened when I get home next week.

I suppose your new seeding is up by now too, huh? It sounds like like 26F or below for a few hours is the death zone for alfalfa seedlings. I hope we both make it through (and RayP too).

You know, I never even thought about the rhubarb. Actually, maybe we should just harvest it and freeze it instead of covering it up :)

It is interesting to hear you guys talk about your grass and alfalfa up already. Of course I'm at 7190' elev, and we can not plant alfalfa until after May 15th. Safe June 1st. I wanted to plant my Grass after Nov 15th, but didn't get it done until March 30th.

I agree. Where I grew up- Central Oregon High Desert- you could expect a frost nearly any night of the year. MOST years you were safe from frost from may 25 - sept 1. But the only night of the year they hadn't recorded a freezing temp was july 5.

I remember snow on july 3. Bout 25 years ago.
