Our GE washer stopped in mid cycle, the door locked closed tank full of water. I Proceded to start removing access pannels, after moving the machine outside so I had room to work. The wife shows up with the manual and starts reading causes for this to happen, power off, plugged drain, plugged pump screen. I told her I know what I'm doing, besides I'm the machanic around here. I removed a hose and starting digging stuff out of a pipe, I couldn't get it all. Then I remembered what she was telling me about a pump screen. I went to the internet and sure enough there is a screen in the front of the machine just remove three screws and there it is. I cleaned the screen, lots of little sticks, probably things that fell in my pockets mowing aroung trees, even found 1.40 in change and a lot of washers and a few screws. and drug the washer back in the garage. Told her the machine is ok to use. Listen to your wife sometimes. Stan

Are you nuts? You'll never hear the end of it. And it will set American manhood back into the dark ages....

Don't even think about it !!when they can say nothings wrong with a bad attitude , and you know somethings brooding in her... head do like they do let em wonder .

Our washer started making a squealing noise once. My wife pitched a fit. I called a repairman, and he found a toothpick stuck in the pump.

Uh, I don't put toothpicks in my shirt pocket, my wife does. Never heard another word about it.

I've had top-loading washers my whole life and they were pretty much zero-maintenance. As soon as we remodelled and got a front loading washer, it's been a nightmare. I've had that lower panel off 3 times now. Always plugged up with baby socks, coins, and stuff that shouldn't have been in MY pockets :). It's a fundamental flaw in the front-loading design; small stuff WILL get past the gasket and clog the screen. Not advocating going back to a top-loader because it's worth it to have the space (stacking), but buyer beware!

Left a 16 penny nail in a pocket and it got into a hole in the drum. That nail opened up the outer tub like ripping through a sardein can. Wife got a new washer before the sun went down. My fault.

Had a buddy do that on a fairly new washer with a plastic tub made a gouge in it bout midway to the top would leak on wash and spin... said he used some kind of caulking on it and they used it a long time after that.

Never, ever tell your wife she was right about something. Even if only once......she will write it down and never, ever let you forget it!

Never, ever tell her she is wrong.....that makes her think that you think she is stupid....she will write it down and never, ever let you forget it!

I can't take credit for it directly, but my wife won't let me touch a thing in the house. Needed to repair shower plumbing so I came in the house with the sawzall and bucket full of tools. She asked me what I was up to. Told her I was going to tear the wall out behind the shower and fix that shower plumbing. She herded me out of there right fast and I'm banned from working on anything in the house. She's a great wife! Now the repairmen come out to fix everything and I just head to the shop while they fix stuff in the house.

My wife can get the wackiest ideas or sometimes hit the nail right on the head and be extremly helpful as what happened in your case here. At least it is fixed.

Our washer quit last month. Took the hose off going to the pump and pulled $17.63 in loose change out of it. It has worked like new ever since. I gave the money back to her because I carry a change purse and being the tight wad I am we know it belonged to her. She blamed me for the two screws and the nail that was in there too.

I always listen to my wife. Yesterday she told me I ought to buy a 1947 Farmall H that was for sale down the road a few miles. I humbly submited to her advice and picked it up today. That woman is nearly always right. Joe
