quick question, hydraulic piston washer instalation

im working on my ford jubilee, rebuilding the hydraulics, when installing the hydraulic piston o-ring and backup washer, how do i get the washer on without breaking it? just force it on, or get it wet then try it? need a quick answer, this thing is apart in my front yard

Usually back up washers will stretch a good bit before breaking so all you need to do is carefully work it into place, stretching it as you go. Good luck.

thanks, got it on, i replaced the old piston too, when i took it out, there was no o ring or backup washer present, nor in the sump, very strange , now if i can just get the adjustments checked out im ready to go back togeather, this tractor had several problems im trying to solve

you could throw them in a pot of hot water, to get them more plyable.
