CRAFTSMAN RIDING MOWER QUESTION

Today, I purchased this riding lawn mower made by Craftsman, it is all silver except for the dashboard, grill, and seat. It is an 8 hp with a 30 inch cut mower. It looks like one of the FF series, and I am not sure what year it was made, and can't make out the model number either. Here is a pic of it on Craigslist (the one I bought is on the lower right of the pictures). Can someone help guide me to finding the model number?

(quoted from post at 16:42:45 03/29/12) Hope you didn't pay very much for it!

I paid a hundred for it. It runs great, and I just like that old look it has,...I don't really even need it to be honest. Just collecting some stuff I guess.

(quoted from post at 17:15:20 03/29/12) Check under seat for a tag

That is what I did and can't make out what the model number is.

Anyone out there that knows of a resource I can go to?

Wow, thank you! I knew someone would pull through in this nice site!

It was probably made by Roper or AYP (American Yard Products) Neither Craftsman nor Sears manufacture anything. Whoever bids the lowest but AYP has made most of the mowers in the last few years. Whoever made your mower will have other identical models except the paint and labeling. They never make one exclusevly for Sears. You may be able to find out what it is and it will be easier and cheaper to buy parts. If the only name on the engine is Crafstman, it is a Techumseh. Briggs allows them to put a Crafsman decal on their engines but it has to have Briggs & Stratton on it somewhere.

The engine is a B & S. Thanks for the info!

Yep, I have a 1976 sears garden tractor with a Tecumseh 16hp ohv and it says craftsman on the engine shroud. , hh160 If I remember right.

So, would anyone out there know the year(s) that this model was actually made? 502255710

There is a link to see it in the very first post of this topic.
