4520 engine swap

I have a 4520 john deere with a bad engine. I have a 7700 combine that is rusted out but has a good engine. I'm thinking about swaping the two engines. Any thoughts?

A friend of mine is wanting to put one in a 4020, there is something about it in the archives. It seems like the front cover is different, and you will have to use the old oil pan, exhaust manifold. I have seen one in a 4020. I know it is possible, just don't know about the little stuff. Should be a better motor. go for it and tell us how to do it. Vic

Should be a good swap. Post down on the deere forum TimS should be able to tell all about it.

Might need to change some external parts from the tractor engine to the combine engine, but they are the same basic block.
