Lyle is sweeping up like a card shark in a convent. He spends NOTHING on ANYTHING !!!! I took a running count this morning. Including what I will need to spend on the next projects... well, I got 10 tractors, and 20 implements.... either all working or included what they will need... well- what did you all put into what you have so far? But, I am not including/ charging or paying myself for my time...

Cheapest by far has been that old 1066 of mine that works like one magnificent old fool.

Just $2K so far. Fingers crossed. :>(

I kinda lucked out.... Bought my little tractor for a real good price, used it almost 10 years and sold it for more than twice what I paid for it (and more than it's replacement cost). Then slopped into a deal on a frontloader. Needed a heavy harrow (disc isn't real common in this area) to smooth out the ruts I made over the winter on one place. Big brute of one on a 3PH frame been setting with weeds growing around it at the edge of town for as long as we been here. Knocked on the owner's door this morning and asked if I could borrow it and he said "yes, if you don't bring it back"

Overall, I came out pretty good..... Got a ways to go to catch up with Lyle tho....

That's a good looking 1066, Allan! I believe that almost makes up for what you spent reconditioning that sharp 966, didn't you? Don't worry, I've been there too!

Allan, there you go again. You know that seeing the curvature of the earth like that makes me dizzy. (;>))

Wow. Not a tree or power pole or building to be seen. Is this spring work or a photo from a previous year? I've worked some big fields in North Dakota years ago, but this looks like giant fields. What general area of Nebraska is this?

I had to update my numbers. I forgot about 2 tractors and 5 other contraptions, so I got 3 dozen 'pieces of farm junk'. And just under 2 dozen gee notes into it all. But it all runs and rolls and works.
Only thing people give me for free seems to be horse drawn stuff.... so now I need to invest in a horse, to do the machine depreciation/tax thing.... or is that a poor excuse to buy a team?
Impossible to catch up with Lyle. I think where he lives people leave caviar out for the stray cats.
Where you live it might be the different soils and weather- or rocks, make spikes and springs more useful than disc harrows. When people offer me something the way he did, a bottle of something seems to seal the deal with a smile!

Lucked into nothing. Have paid too much for stuff I should have been paid to take.

At least the stuff I paid the most for has turned out to be good trouble free gear.

Looks like he can drive from Utah to California in one pass. Unlike here one more pass to finish and he'd miss supper all together . Man that's some big territory !! Tractors out there must not sell as hours.. must be mileage .

Wow... I almost hate to add it up...
1961 MF35 Deluxe
$3500 original purchase price (came with brush cutter and box blade)
$1000 on misc parts and services (+ total re-wire of electrical) - something still ain't right... if I don't disconnect the battery, it goes dead in a few hours...
$1000 on transmission seals & clutch replacement...

Looks like right around $5500... Accounting department ain't happy right now... :(
8)

P.S. And I've only put about 20 hours on it... It better run good for a while... But I need to re-work the steering and I need two front wheels (rust has taken a toll on these)... wheels are excess of $50 each...

We keep (me and the horses) several rows of fruit tree ground mowed for them and the wife fixes them up a goody basket about every other year... There are quite a bit of rocks on the higher fields in the area.....

Your price is bang on, it was a 2001 F350 superduty, 4wd, crew cab, power tailgate, 1200$ of new BFG tires on it, new unit bearings, 120k miles on it.
