The nasty is if some of the pan bolts are rusted/corroded/frozen and break off when you try to remove them. BTDT!

No special tools needed.3 hrs book time.Spend the extra money for a good gasket like Fel-Pro Perma-Dry.

If it's not pouring out, on an 18 year old car, I'd pour in a bottle of engine stop leak. Have done that more times than I care to admit on "throw away" cars over the last 20 years. Always worked and cars never died of a motor problem.......

Just so it is not radiator stop leak. My son bought a s-10 that lost oil pressure and we pulled apart to find stuff that looked like copper. Talked to former owner he said it had rear main leak and he added stop leak to the oil. Some people should not be allowed to leave the house.

Probably stripped oil plug. They do make self tapping plugs. Go easy. Engine should be common 350 Chevy. Dave

makes ya want to crawl under there and look. a buddy of mine does all his oil changes.. very carefull worker. had to go out of town on an emergency and was due for an oil change, sent wife to get it while he packed.. went to a quick change place. when bill came to him, they had charged him for a new drain plug as the old one was 'stripped' and could not be reused :(

If it ws stripped.. they did it.

they also reccomended about 1000$ of work, like a new pan gasket, cooling system flush, and valve cover gasket.. etc.

just a bunch of 'impulse' work.. that's why I don't like quick change places... almost dealing with crooks...
