I got a call last night and I guess a power line had broke and fell on the horse. I have to go and dig a grave for it this am.

Just got back frome digging the grave for the horse. What happened was the hot wire had broke off the insulator and the wire was hanging a couple of feet off the ground and the horse walked into it. I have never heard of that before.

Gdad was a vet, and had to go look at a dead horse in a stall many years ago. As I recall, the animal was about three or four years old, and had been in perfect health the day before he was found. Nobody had a clue as to what caused the death, but granddaddy looked at the horse's teeth and noticed they were blackened. Looking around, he found a lighting wire the owner had nailed to the back of the stall boards, and the had a bunch of tooth marks where the nag had been chewing on the board and the wire. Guess he took one bite too much.....

Good luck with the power company. Had a cow go sniff a power line that had fallen after a thunderstorm, power company claimed "act of God" case closed!

Reminds me of a pup I had.
Had him along with me in an vacant house I was working on and was very careful to keep all my power tools and cords unplugged as I had seen him chewing on one once. By golly that dog chewed the cords off my skill saw and a trouble lamp.
Grrr!
So I made a point of leaving everything plugged IN. Next day I hear an awful yelping and then some barking in the other room so I went to investigate. He was standing his ground but not getting too close - barking at an extension cord. After that till he was old and died I never lost another power cord.
