There is one on ebay right now. There are 6 bids on it right now and running at $69.00.

It has no serial number because it was made before Jan.1969. I believe circled (D) was 1952, the C & E are inspector's personal proof marks. Buy those barrels on ebay. Put the rest of the gun together, but before that, distory the cut off barrels... and quit telling the web about it. how short are they? Less than 16inches? Over that is legal, but miserable to shoot.

(quoted from post at 11:02:04 03/25/12) Less than 16inches? Over that is legal, but miserable to shoot.

18 Inches on a smooth bore. 16 on a rifled bore.

If close to 18 you could have a smith thread them for extended screw in chokes( to bring over 18"), then have the chokes silver soldered in place.

I own one of those. Double barrel with the left barrel being full choke and the right barrel being modified choke. Makes a real good turkey gun and next week end a friends grand son will be out hunting with it

Barrels for double shotguns aren't mix and match. They have to be fitted. You might get lucky and find one that locks up tight and on face like it should but if you don't you'll have to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. The average "gunsmith" doesn't. They just replace parts. What you want is a machinist that works on guns. What happened to the other barrels? Please don't say that you sawed them off.

Years Back I bought a double barrel 12 Guage from Sears Where I worked. Gun made in SPAIN. still have it.See Pix. Thought about using it as a home invasion protection fire arm. Left Barrel load with 00 Buck , right barrel with a rifled deer slug. What a protection gun!!!. Had a lot of request for guys wanting to buy it. Truthfully, I got it for the wife for a Mothers Day gift along with a dozen long stem roses. Thats the truth. Both of us is still happily married.Used it in hunting pheasants and Quail in Kentland Indiana. also bought from sears a German Mauser re- chambered for 30/06. Beautiful action. Better (smoother) then the 300 Winchester Mag.But never heard of 311 Shotgun. Who made it and how long past?? Regards LOU.

AYA, or Aguirre & Aranzabal, made and make some very high quality shotguns. Many of their newer ones sell in the thousands, some for over $10,000. That gun is well worth any amount it would cost to restore it if you wish. Don't do anything to diminish its value. The average gunsmith isn't going to have the skill to do any repair to it.

It is obvious that you are intent on spending $500 to fix a $300 gun...so here is some info for you.

Found the following info on a Goggle search:

"The fact that it has no serial # indicates that it was made before 1968, when the Gun Control Act of 1968 required that all firearms have serial #s.

The model 311 started as the Springfield 5000 around 1920 with model designation changing to 5100 in 1931. Around 1940 it became the Stevens model 311. It was discontinued in 1989.

If it was manufactured between 1949 and 1968 there should be a small circle with a number and letter stamped between the trigger and the hinge pin. The letter reflects the year of manufacture.

A to N = 1949 - 1961
P = 1963
R to V = 1964 - 1968

Yours, with a circled "A", was probably made in, or very close to, 1949.

Value? Well, here we have a bit of a discrepancy. The Standard Catalog of Firearms values it at:

Model 311A - Hammerless Boxlock:

Exc. - $525
V.G. - $450

The Blue Book values it at:

Model 311 SxS (16 ga.):

98% - $295
95% - $240
90% - $220

Why the big difference? Your guess is as good as mine!"

The Stevens 311 production was 1931-1989 and the 311R was made 1982-1989 at which time they stopped production of side by side shotguns

The Stevens 311 shot gun was probably the last us made sxs shot gun.Sold for a bit over 100 bucks new.Very solid basic shotgun, no snob appeal.Birch wood stock and fore end.My son has one my Uncle gave him over 40 years ago.The major makers gave up making a single shot shot guns. Then H&R and NEF proved they were wrong.I bought a single shot 20 gauge NEF years ago.Its called the Youth Model 22 inch barrel, modifed choke. As I get older its my favorite. The gun cost 88 bucks.Ive taken 2 wild turkey with my old 12 gauge Stevens single shot that cost 29 bucks new.makes me smile when I see the high priced camo turkey guns.I see the Stevens 311 selling for 3 to 400 bucks now.Our money is becoming worthless.

"Our money is becoming worthless."

I prefer to look at it as our guns are becoming more valuable.

You are living in a dream. If you sell your more valueable gun the money you get wont buy more gas or fuel oil with the cash.If you check prices on gunbroker you will see that guns are not selling at current prices.Cash on hand is losing buying power.I bought a lot of bar/ chain oil for 2.38 a gallon a few years ago.Its 8 to 10 bucks a gallon now.
