we all use c-list, lately the scammers list tractors and other stuff, in wrong listing,, try flagging them off, never ending battle, 'gets you mad sometimes' wishing you could send them a virus or 1k volts to fry their computers..cars in furniture, tractors in auto parts, etc,,,had 3 items listed, got 3 e-mail from 3 different names with same "?",s,within 1 minute,, no telly #, they are wanting e-mail #.,,ain't responding to them, just deleted them...can't win

Geeshe!! I thought I had problems when I look for Garden Tractors and mostly find riding mowers listed as tractors . GRRrrrr!

I have found my share of scammers, but I have found some really good deals too. I bought a camper for a LOT less than the dealers wanted for the same thing. He need cash and I wanted a 30ft camper.

It's not your job to "police" it. Flag it if you come across it, but if you're getting overwhelmed with "search and destroy" missions, you're doing it wrong.

I was looking at a tractor I found on C-list Thursday evening, and the guy told me a story about some jerk who called him to "educate" him about the tractor he had, telling him that if it's really what he claimed, it should have this feature, and that feature and so on...

He asks this jerk if he wants to buy the tractor. No, not interested at all. WTH?

We put ads in over here once looking for RR ties, most of the calls were folks tellin us you can't use em for landscaping......

Not only garden tractors listed as tractors, but a piece of junk like a Sabre listed as a "John Deere". Or a whole bunch of things like plows, instead of 'snow plow for lawn tractor', guess they're too lazy or too stupid to type.

You can click the box where it says hide email address so they can't contact you that way.
I never leave my email as you just get scammers and spammers.
I leave my phone # instead but I write it like
612 555 one two four eight so the bots can't so easily get that either.
What gripes me about Clist is those blasted keywords.
Like a guy is selling some part - say a hood for an Allis B and uses all kinds of keywords like Farmall, Chevy, Ford, Massey, John Deere, etc.
If the item he's selling is not related to his keywords I always flag those ads.
Clist is great though. I just picked up a matched set of four 8 bolt Chevy rims, tires, hub caps and lug nuts yesterday for a trailer project I'm working on. Cheap.
He was happy, I was happy.

UD is right. That's just what you have to put up with if you use it. What is more annoying to me is people that call and just want to talk. The constant scammer emails is again what you have to deal with and easily recognizable.

C list has its problems. Like the guy selling a car, only listed 'his' cell phone number, but it wasn't his-it was my wifes! I had no way to contact him, had it taken off, but he relisted it right away. After getting the third call about the car, I finally went driving-he had listed a vague geographic area-and found him. The second number was ONE off, changing it to my wifes! On a positive note-I am working now at the best job I have ever had, and I got it off a listing on Craigs list!

I do the opposite... I NEVER put my phone number on c-list.

Always use the double-blind email feature. It hides your email address so the only way they can get to you is by using that address WHILE THE AD IS ACTIVE. If it gets annoying, take the ad down.

That way you have the power of getting back to the respondent or not. Put your number up there, and you're at the mercy of the NET COPS, "dooshbags" and tire-kickers.

Less is more in the item descriptions.

when a scammer contats me about my ad I some times reply with this message. Cash only[US currency] when buyer picks up. never hear from them again.

SO YOU'RE THE ONE THAT KEEPS DELETING MY WANT ADS.

I wish the do gooders would mind there own busisness. Who cares if it's listed wrong? I post a legitimate post with pics looking for a 6RN allis cultivator and it gets flagged twice! I posted an ad last year looking for a 6RN planter and that got flagged. My posts are legit. Personally I think it's other people on there looking for the same that are deleting my posts just to eliminate competition.

I think you might be on to something there.

I agree. I use Craigslist a lot and people are always flagging ads that are within the terms of use. I just repost them to show the people flagging them that I am more persistent than they are. :)

Put your ads where they belong and they wont get flagged. Want ads go in the WANTED section.

Also, its a little known fact that the more times your account gets an ad flagged off, the less flags needed to remove your future ads. So how do you like that, keep reposting ads to "teach people a lesson" and all it does is make your ads easier to be flagged off.

If they are legitimate ads what is a man supposed to do? And when one person flags an ad the ad is removed. I guess I could report it to Craigslist but I don't think that would do any good. I'll just keep reposting. It's not like it happens hundreds of times lol

Very rarely does a "legitmate" ad get flagged, in fact its so rare you could say it never happens. Dont believe me? Just go to the flag help forum on craigslist and show them your ad, they will help you.

Incorrect, craigslist has safegaurds in place that prevents a single person from removing an ad. Think about it, if one person could flag off ads, there would be no ads on craigslist.

Sure it will, it will alert craigslist that you have repeatedly gamed the system and they will be able to make additional adjustments to your account. Go ahead, email them and complain about your "legitmate" ad.

Yep, keep reposting. FYI, it dont take hundreds of time being flagged off to have your account become brittle. Keep reposting the same ads over and over that have been flagged off and soon you will be asking what a ghosted ad is or why you cant post anymore. There is a reason you are being flagged off, find out why because your community is trying to tell you they dont want to see your "legitmate" ad or you will be perminatly voted off the island.

It took years and years for ebay to go down the toilet, mostly because it cost money to list and some because not everybody had access to the internet. Now, everybody and their dog has internet and it have taken only a few short years for craigslist to take a huge hit in usefullness. Having jagoffs insist on reposting just because they want to "prove how persistant they are" is helping to flush a great resource. Whats a person to do though, there is always somebody that takes great glee is peeing in the pool.....
