This hot weather has the bugs out in full force. We are being invaded with Gnats. The whole side of the house is covered under the night lights. I like the cool night air but you can't open the windows as the little buggers come right through the screens.

I have to wash the wind shield on the truck and car after driving them day or night. I like the cold better than these darn bugs!!!!

The mosquitoes around my place are thinker in March this year than they were in July last year. Didn't get enough winter to cut the adult population down I guess. It's going to be a long summer for us warm-blooded critters. The ticks are just as thick or maybe even worse.

The Boring Bumblebees that try to get in the eaves of my garage in late May early June every year are already showing up and Buzzing me. This is Crazy!!!

Don't forget the stink bugs! One quick run around the windows will yield a cup full. I get what revenge I can by adding them to the composter. I'm trying to get the border collies to herd them out but no luck yet.

This reminds me. I need to move the light by the front door at the new place.

It's placed right by the door. You know, where every time you open the door you let about 50 bugs in from the light being 5 inches form the door jamb. :x

Flew Air Tran from Atlanta to New York Early this week. On the window there were 2 ticks (fairly fat even) where they came from I have no idea there is not a tree or much grass just acres of concrete within a mile of the terminal. The plane was painted for the Colts so maybe the ticks got confused. They stayed on my window until about 10 seconds into the take off roll (hope they went through the engine). I wonder if there were two on my little window, how many were on the whole plane. (could be just those two but that is almost as much of a miricle as them being there in the first place)

We have these May Flies, they look like mosquitos on steroids and they will BITE the....out of you!

We're going to get a frost/freeze early next week, so hopefully that will take care of some of the bugs. It's supposed to drop to 31 on Tuesday night.

Yes odd nice weather. Remember dave2's post tuesday about steak. Well it sounded good, so took a couple new york strips out of freezer. Wife got home from work about dusk so I went out and started grill. Left light on for the deck. Went out a few minutes later to put steaks on and heard something hit the sliding glass door. A June Bug!!! In northern Minnesota... Went and got wife to show her and two more were laying on the deck. Very weird we thought for mid march. Other than that only couple of flies and couple mosquitos seen here. SHON

Install bathouses, get gineas...let dirt martins and swallows built homes...Or invite the vacuum cleaner sales person over for a chat through the open window and behind a bug screen..lol

Grasshoppers and cicadas are already an inch long here. Looks like we"re going to have a bumper crop of bugs this year.

Shoot them bumble bees!!!!! Get some 22 rat shot and a old pistol, when they buz around and stop in mid air you can blow them away up to about 10 feet, It's a barrel of fun.

Last year on March 23, 2011 we got 9 1/2 inches of wet heavy snow on top of 2 feet of old ice and snow. This year the snow is gone, the frost is out of the ground, mosquitoes are out already and the heating bills are much lower. I'll take the bugs over the snow.

It will be an interesting year after such a mild winter.

Found the first one of the year on my arm yesterday. Usually don't see them til late April. Time to proof the dogs I guess.

Better yet, hit them with the electric fly swatter from Harbor Freight. It zaps them and just a little puff of smoke is left.
At least for the flies.
