One more computer problem

I don't know anything about "changing cookies" or any of that computer stuff,so I'm thinking that might be my problem.
I had to have a whole new Microsoft XP Pro system loaded in to the computer last week,I'm running Microsoft Internet Explorer. My problem now is,when I go to the United Producers site,I changed the local facility preference to St Louis Michigan alright, that all works like it should, but when I click on the DTN link and get to DTN,it comes up,but I can't make it do anything on that page. The default radar is on Columbus Ohio. I used to be able to put my Zip Code in and get the local radar on it. When I try to use any of the other links for Futures and Options,News, things like that, nothing works there either. I used to be able to use that site just like any other, now nothing. I can't even make it move up and down or side to side.
United Producers/DTN

The site works fine for me. I am using Windows Vista, with Firefox as my browser.

Windows XP is outdated, maybe the sites you are having issues with are no longer compatible with XP?

I'm on a mac and all I get with safari is a question mark for the radar.

I have firefox loaded too and when I use it I can see the radar.

I am using XP and have no problem with the site. Could be a glich in your program or you may have to put in the zip code each time you hit the site. Check to see if you kill the cookies each and every time you shut down the PC.
HTH

It won't take the zip code. When I move the cursor to it and click, nothing shows up. The blinking bar that lets you start typing doesn't show up. The XP program that I'm running was just installed last week. I never had a problem with the site before the old XP system crashed. Thought there might be something I have to update. Like I said, everything works fine on the United Producers home page.

Can you go to tools and scroll down to windows update.

Sometimes when you load new software you have to come in behind and add all the updates, patches and fixes.

Not sure man, just taking stabs at it.

Well....just did that. A box came up wanting to install some "Windows component publisher" with a security warning saying it might damage my computer. So I don't think I want to do that. Thanks anyway. Gotta be something simple, I just don't know what it is.

Yeah, but if you were in the program that's asking for the update, I don't think it's going to ask for something that's going to hurt your computer. I think that prompt is simply your anti-virus saying "hey, I'm not sure what you're doing here". As long as your anti-virus is on, you should be good.

Browsers on your computer have to be constantly updated to keep up with peoples websites that are constantly updated.

Hey rrlund, you might want to google that prompt. Seems others have had the same thing. Seems it's all about either auto update or manual.

I had an older computer 6 or 7 yrs ago. XP also. Internet Explorer started doing screwy things. Took the cover off to check the fan, could see a component on the motherboard had fried and let the smoke out. Got a new computer.

Well if this don't just beat all! I can click things toward the bottom of the screen and it works, but not at the top. I can make it go side to side with the blue bar and I can bring it down on the vertical bar using the arrow at the bottom, but I can't move it back up using the top arrow. I can click "customize" at the lower part of the screen and it works. Same with "view complete local weather". When I do click that and start on the icons from the bottom up,they work from the bottom up to the ninth one from the bottom. Click the 10th from the bottom going up and it doesn't work. Does any of this make any sense to anybody? Sure doesn't to me.
I'd think it was a site problem, but some of you say it's working for you?

Can you find another browser in your dock or programs folder to try?
If a different browser works, at least you've isolated the problem to Explorer & not XP.

Where do I look? I had Foxfire, but the wife told the neighbor not to reinstall it because I never used it.

Firefox is easy to install, just download from Mozilla.org. Follow the prompts and you'll have a better browser anyway. You can use either, whichever you like best.

Clean installation of Windows you say? Did you install adobe flash or java? Those plug-ins allow a lot of animated content on websites to work.

I reloaded Adobe flash player, yes. Had to to run anything on youtube. That works just fine.
