just brought this up a page
go ahead and pull plugs and see if everything is going up and down the same amount...if it is go ahead and start taking it apart...only thing you really need to keep track of it the push rods...loosen the bolts that hold the entire rocker assembly down so the push rods are loose...then find a piece of cardboard and poke holes in it to keep push rods in order...they wear different so it does make a difference where they go on re assembly.
wouldnt hurt to keep track of head bolts too...some may be longer than others or made different.
if i remember rite the manifolds dont have to come off but it may be easier than getting exhaust pipe loose.
this should keep ya busy awhile...just take your time and dont force anything...if head doesnt come off easy just screw plugs back in and spin engine over...compression will pop it off.

Will do and thanks!

I won't be starting on it until Monday night.

I was looking at it last night and decided to go get some label tags on stuff like that to keep track of things. I started cleaning the work bench of wiring stuff and getting ready for this.

I ain't gonna lie though, in looking at the service manual and looking back at the motor, I'm intimidated. I've helped a friend with his chevy rebuild before and being a helper as opposed to thinking through something like this is allot different.

quit tyin yerself up in knots...nuthin to it...gettin the hood/gas tank off was the hard part.
