Dumb things you do.

Getting out of the bosses tractor. Moved my left hand to close the cab door. By sticking my right hand in. The cows sure heard a lot of nasty words after that.

Speaking of dumb things, when I was a kid my parents used to look at me sitting in the hog troff slop feeding the hogs by hand, then look at each other and ask, "Was he the dumbest thing we ever did, or what?" And then they would look up at the sky and ask "Can we give him back to you?".

Last friday I backed the pickup and gooseneck trailer in and got out and stood up and turned back to ask my boy if I was far enough. The truck door didn't open far enough to get on the detent spot. When I turned my head the door came closed and the metal corner hit me right on my big ole ear. I cried. Its red and SORE.

Left the tailgate up after unhooking the GN trailer, said "I do", didn't listen to my parents when I was young and knew it all, had kids, spent more than I made, made a right hand turn out of a left hand lane, left out in the JD "G" to plow and didn't have any water in the radiator, then put cold water in while it was hot (no problems), rode with my foot on the clutch in the combine, cause daddy said don't pick up a rock, mash the clutch if you do. Thought I would be quicker with foot on the clutch.

I could go on but my fingers are tired.

Once while trying to jump in the truck real quick, I somehow (& don’t ask how!) slammed my ear in the truck door. I thought I had ripped it right off my head. Laid on the seat clutching my ear for about 5 minutes. Still hurts just thinking about it!

Which one ya wanna hear??? I could prolly make one of them calendars you pull off a day at a time like thefarside calendars

Most recent, 2 days ago, going for the rest of my front loader. Driving in to the low building to hook up, flipped my windshield up and got out to scoot things around. Got back on and pulled forward with the window flipped up and bent the frame and ruined the wiper motor (bent the shaft).....

Speaking of ears, when I was in Korea I was track commander of a M113 for a trip out to do maneuvers. It was really cold that morning so I put my helmet down in front of the heater. I'm pretty sure the metal ear piece that encapsulated the speaker was only a few degrees from glowing red when I put it back on after letting the hot air warm it up for apparently to long.

My ears were so cold I actually smelled my ear burning before I felt the heat and pain.

(quoted from post at 21:25:37 03/22/12) Ever do the Levi rivit dance.

Hot rivets from sitting/standing to close to the fire? Wranglers have bigger rivets, and yes. They'll leave marks!

I don't know if anything hurts that bad does it? I was out on the 4 wheeler a few years ago checking fence and ran over a curved tree limb. The darned thing rolled up behind me and came right down along side my head and pealed me in the ear. Bled like a stuck hog and hurt like all get out. I sat there too for a good five minutes trying to catch my breath.

Back years ago when I was working for the phone company, I was assigned a job to reroute a drop line over a driveway to the opposite side of the house. Got the new line up, and started to wreck the old line. When I cut the house attachment, the old pole that it was attached to fell over onto the owners car. The wire was apparently the only thing still holding it up, Glad now I didn't try to climb it first..

Went for a joy ride when I was a kid on our 165 w/ loader. The hooks on the tire chains came loose, and caught the fender ripping it off the bracket. It clocked me up side the head on the road and left a huge goose egg.

I managed to put it in the loader along with everything that was in the fender mounted tool box, and go home to where my dad came very close to beating me. He was a little rough, but looking back I'd have probably done the same thing.
