Another old farm photo

Yesterday I posted a silo filling photo. This photo was taken the same year, 1948, from the other side of the barn, looking north. My Grandmother's handwriting is on it. I think she took pictures of the farm because it was right after my Grandfather died and she didn't know how long she would be able to keep it. My Father was ill at the time and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Luckly he got better and took over the farm.
The Barn is now gone, replaced by a metal one but the land is still in the family. My brother now lives on the homestead.

Good photo, nice set of buildings and so glad for you that it's still in the family. The barn looks very good in the picture, did it just outgrow its usefullness?

I like old barn pictures. There are way too many barns neglected to the point they are falling down. Just imagine when you look at a barn, the amount of labor that was performed in and around those majestic old buildings. From filling the loft with hay to pitching the manure out the doors with pitch forks. I remember the manure fork at home (in the 60s) had a handle hand worn as smooth as glass. It didn't get that way standing in the corner some where.

Really neat old farmstead. Neat that it is still in your family.

Love old barns! I take pics of them whenever I get a chance - they are disappearing so fast. It is sad.
