Tractors over the years on one farm

Responding to the one post got me to thinking about how many tractors have been on this farm to work.

Dad moved onto this farm in 1957 with 3 MM and the tractors bought and used since then include-

MM- U,UB,ZB,R and 5 Star

IH-F12,F20,MD,300U,350,450D,460G,560G,560D,706D,
806D, 966, 986

Long 510FWD, Hesston FWD. Ford 1900fwd, AC D17

Oliver 880

Those were dads tractors on this farm.

I have had a H, MTA, 300, 560G, 1066,'77 1086FWD,
'79 1086, '82 1086, MX200

Oliver 77 and a AC C.

Dad had 23 tractors in the 40 years or so he farmed here.

I have had only 11 in the 37 years I have been farming. I still have 7 of the 11 I have bought.

How many tractors have worked your farm?

Dad and I over lapped about 25 years or so.

Gary

in the in about the 25yrs ive been farming i have had a
farmal m
ford 8000,9700,6610,7710,7700,4610,655a

still got the fords, 770, 610, all the nh exept for model that cant think of. some are sitting non running tractors(770,610,7700,l565)

Over 25 years seven have worked here but three others have come to just loaf around and haven't accomplished anything. I am fairly well acquainted with my cousin's farm that he took over from his Dad. They started around 1945. and not too many years later had an 8N. In all I can count 14. All but one a Ford. The six newest ones are still there working, and four of the old ones are still there but pretty much retired.

So far as I know, starting with my grandfather;
JD "Waterloo Boy" D A AR B 50 2510.
AC WD WD45 180D 185D
Dad and I owned an AC 6060 for the few years we worked together.
He and the home place are gone.
On my place now I have;
AC B C WD45 D15II
JD 2510(Dad's) 2520D 4020D,PS
CaseIH 5230MFWD 7240MFWD

I can only address those my dad and brother had, but here goes:

1943 JD 'B', 1949 JD 'A', 1952 JD 'B', 1953 Ford NAA, 1963 JD 3010, a Ford 6000, a JD 4020 and a JD 1010. I think that's all we had from 1943 until my brother quit farming in the early '80s.

Not many, eh?

Stan

Oops!
I just read where you said "one" farm. But this sort of counts. Some of the land I bought belonged to some of my ancestors.
And I almost forgot the old Steiger I was so glad to get rid of!
And a WD45 I sold, now I've got another that's surplus! They just aren't as useful as they were in my youth.

I can only tell what has been been used since I was born.

I was born in 1957. The first tractor was a 1958 Ford 861 Powermaster gasoline bought new. The next was a 1974 Ford 5000 row crop diesel, also bought new, then a 1974 IH 1066 diesel bought used.

All have been passed down from my mom's side of the family. The 5000 and 1066 are here in Illinois now, the 861 is still in Nebraska where it will remain to brush hog, etc.

On my dad's side, I have my Grandpa's F20 Farmall back here in Illinois also. DOUG

Thinking back now.....

Wow. good thread, This is a century farm.

My sis remembered 2 horses in the barn yet,t hey weren't really used any moe, but were the last 2 that had been.

I don't know if grandpa had a tractor, musta but dad never talked about it?

Dad had a H that he got as a newer tractor, and a fairly new Oliver 88, with a C and a IHC 300. Got a Ford 960 when I started driving, was a year or 2 later he got a 2nd Ford 960. He got a Ford 7700 at the end, traded the 88 on it - the 88 used almost as much oil as gas that thing did a lot of tillage around here. Also bought his brother's Oliver Super 77.

I got a TW-20, a NH 1720, a Ford 5200. And still have most of dad's. The little 1720 is used every day, the blue ones do most of the work, probably should get rid of a couple of the gas burners now that I got the 5200.

Gonna hit the Century Farm mark next year.

Grandpa and Great Grandpa bought a HartParr 15-30 in the teens.

Traded it for a 18-36 in 29 when the Oliver combination came about and the two cylinder Hartparr's were done.

Bought a 1939 B John Deere (Still have it)

Traded the 18-36 Hart Parr on 1950 John Deere A (Still have that one also) Was able to replace the Hart Parr about 10 years ago.

In the early 60's bought a JD 3010.

Then a Farmall H at auction in the 60's, up till this one all these tractors were new when bought.

Traded the 3010 and H on a 3020 in 1967 (still have that one also.

Picked up a Case DC4 sometime in the early 70's.

Traded the DC4 on a new Case 1070 in 77.

Farmall 350 in early 80's.

Traded 350 on a Case Terratrac 420 later in the 80's (still have it also)

60 John Deere in early 80's (still have it)

Case 2290 at auction later in the 80's (still have it)

Traded the 1070 on a 2294 in the 90's and still have that one also.

of course there are toys on the place also but I have only counted the ones that did real work on the place, The 350 and the Terratrac are a bit of both.

Tempted to restore the Hart Parr I have picked up and put together a display of all the tractors we bought new for the Century farm celebration if we do anything. I have a friend who has a good example of a 15-30 then all I have to come up with would be a 3010 and 1070. Have plenty of friends with 1070's and have no doubts I could come up with a 3010 with a little looking.

It was a good tractor. We bought it with the 15.5x38 tires planning on doing row crop work. It had so much power we ended up doing field work with it. We found some 18.4x30 wheels and tires off a 180 and put on it(loaded) then it finally had enough traction to pull. It would pull the same plow (4x16) along side the 185. It had a little more power than the 185, and burned less fuel. It had the factory cab with all the options.
It could have had more gears.(We should have bought the 6080 w/18.4x34 tires and 12 speeds) And the PTO clutch/shift mechanism was an archaic piece of junk right out of the dark ages.
We sold it when we quit working togther, it had about 4000 hours on it. It was so powerful we feared the rear end wouldn't hold up.

Forgot two AC WD45's we still have.

One has a mower under it and will probably sell it next spring.

Other has a homemade 4 nozzle spray boom on it and still earns it's keep.

Dad started farming in 1948. First tractor was a 49 Deere A that was traded for a new 51 Deere A. A 35 A was added in 1950. He bought a Deere B in 1958 and traded it for a new Deere 630 in 1960. Still have the 35 A, 51 A, and the 630.

When I started farming I bought a new Case 1070, traded for a new 1978 IH 1086 that I still have. Bought a 4650 Deere a year ago. The rest are toys. Jim

The tractor list: One 8N Ford.

Dad hated tractors, and anything mechanical. Don't know why I like 'em. I've owned about 50 in the last 40 years, most were bought, used a little as I fixed them up, then sold; some bought cheap and "flipped" pretty quickly. Can only remember a couple that didn't need a new seat.
