first of all thanks to those of you who helped us out with my corn head questions. with that being said what would be a good head for soybeans for the same IH 715 combine? again we have a very small operation (about 50 acres) so we dont really get carried away with what we get. thanks again

We had a 715 and which I believe used an old 810 head. It had a floating cutterbar but don't believe it had a good automatic head control system. Only used it a couple of years and went to a 915 and newer 810 head. Now a 1480 with an 820 head which is a noticable improvement over the 810. The cable system worked OK but have upgraded it with an aftermarket electronic control. If you are patient, 1020 heads which replaced the 820 are occasionally available for about twice the price of an 820. Not going to get an oil bath wobble box that cheap but other advantages make it worth the extra bucks. Only question is whether or not your 715 has the necessary features to justify a 1020 head. Don't believe ours did. The neighbor had an 815 and more recently a 1440 with an old 810 head. Was having a tough time getting the floating cutter bar parts that needed replaced and his fields were looking pretty ragged. He jumped to a 1020 and is happier.
