Is the casting the same for the left and right side?

Yes, the casting itself is the same, but if you are going to swap them, know that the differential shaft is longer on the right and the axle shaft is different on the right for the planter drive. You'll have to swap those parts out before installation.

Better check the casting to see if the brake rod will fit when going to the left to the right. Clean of the part# in the casting and check the part# i doubt if they are the same. They will bolt up but the cast does not have a place for the brake rod to go when changing from side to side.

Casting # are 6-19-D and 350806 R5 and the Cub is a 1958, mine is 1948

False.
Here are photos to show that both sides are in fact the same for a F-Cub and the brake rod opening is present on both sides.
The LoBoy finals on the other hand are not interchangeable and are side specific.
