Splitdorf mag kill switch

Guys on my mag there is a little switch that kills the spark on the mag when I flip the switch. Is this switch safe to flip while the tractor is running to use it as a kill switch?

I'm not sure about your specific application but on my Farmall H I have a mag ground that I use when I want to stop the engine. It seems to work fine and it is much quicker than shutting the gas off and waiting for it to run out.

not too familiar with the splitdorf, but thats the usuall way to kill the engine is by grounding out the spark at magneto.

I'd let wife or one of the kids do it first, justincase. That is what it is for, a loy of Wisconsons are that way.

You usually have a toggle switch or a piece of metal to ground out the mag. Flipping that switch will ground out your mag stopping the engine. It normally would be used for shutting down an engine. Here's an old Wico mag used on twin cylinder garden tractors and that post will ground the points stopping the engine. Hal
