goodies at the scrap yard

I know a guy that is a scrapper, he is a pretty good guy to deal with, I have sold him junk and he has even let me buy stuff out of his yard. I was in the neighborhood of his place today, so I stopped by to see if he had any goodies there. Sure enough, there are a pretty good 540 IH 4-bottom semi-mount plow there as well as a John Deere 4 bottom 3-point plow. If anyone is interested in either of these two plows, let me know and I can put you in touch with him.

These first few pictures are of an old oil tank that I think would have been mounted on a wooden wheeled running gear and pulled by horses.
I can make out the remains of the original decals or stencil that says "Ford Automobiles Use Polarine Lubricants"

If it was closer I would be on those rolling
coulters and that trailing wheel like white on rice.
The landing lever and that lower 3pt link bar look
good too. The previous owner of my plough managed to
bend the bar.

The Oil tanker is just like one they restored on American Restorations a few weeks ago... You guessed right on !!

I sure wish there was a scrap yard like that around here .I'm wanting a set of 3pt 2 bottom Ford plows & parts for my disc . Shipping things like that would be awful . Lucky you . God bless

Strange, there are so many of us that enjoy going to a scrap yard and just looking. Most times the opportunity is rare to just walk in a scrap yard and look around, Enjoy, Murray

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that has a scrap yard I can pick at. Never ceases to amaze me what gets junked.

Had them cut this hoist out of an old cabover Ford for me a couple weeks ago. I got a 5000 watt genny last week that just needed about 3 quarts of gas drained out of the crankcase, a carb cleaning, and some mouse nest removal. I also picked up an american made engine stand identical to the one I have. Didnt really need it, but couldnt leave it. Guess I can work on 2 engines at a time now.

I got the brush hog about a year ago. Apparently the slip clutch had disintegrated and deere parts were ridiculous. Bought an A & I driveshaft, new seals, and sandblast and paint.

I spend way more money buying at the scrapyard than I ever get selling there.

I'll bet half of our equipment came from our local yard. I could never work there, I'd take home my paycheck in iron!!!

I spoke to the guy this morning, he said the JD plow belongs to his dad and it is not for sale. The tank he is keeping, he said he is going to mount it on the Dodge truck that it is sitting on in the pictures. He is going to save the IH plow for me until I can go and get it.
