Snowblower motor.

I have a Toro snowblower with a 5hp Tecunseh engine. I would like to find a manual for the engine but cant find a model number. Where do I look. It seems I have a governor problem. The engine either nearly stalls or races.

look on fan shroud down under the carb, older engines were Snow King - SK50 or something like that

my 8hp model is LH318SA, maybe the 8 means 8hp

The model # should be stamped on the fan shroud , top or either side. Something like: HSSK50+ for Horizontal, Small frame, Snow King, 5.0 HP, etc.

The Toro model number should also be tracable back to which engine model you have. Check Toro's web site or any engine repair shop, they do that every day.

Tecumseh published a "Tecumseh Mechanic's Handbook for 3 to 10 HP 4-Cycle Engines" (L-Head) part #740049, 106 pages. It's handy if you own more than one Tecumseh engine. They are still available on E-bay for around $15. They used to be sold in hardware stores, and just about anyplace that sold lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.

Clymer sells a Tecunseh engine manual ISBN #978-0892876174, $10.33 + free shipping on Amazon.

Haynes publishes manuals too.
