Bill Mart and the wash pad....

Hey, wanted to bring this back up without hijacking the other one and get it up top for the folks in the classic view rut....

Anyway, I have a suggestion (may or may not fit your situation) and then hope someone will chime in with ideas (pics welcome)...

1st: Why not make it narrower and maybe longer? Size it comfortable to walk around your widest/longest vehicle.
2nd: Think about curbing it and having at least a corner drain to keep mud away from the rest of the area...
3rd: (and this is geared to my situation also and I could use ideas/pics of something that won't break the bank) Think about a mud trap (??) to avoid plugging a drain somewhere down the line.

Our drains all run into a city drain and folks that clog it ain't too popular..... Was thinking of just something like a bathtub (or similiar) buried to catch the sludge before the water drains off then just shovelling out the sludge as needed and putting it back where it came from.

Just a thought.

Constructive ideas. My impression is also of a nice
pad covered with slime and/or saturated muddy apron
around the pad. Jim

thank you guys for all the constructive input. 20x20 was the original thought, since then we have decided to park the truck on our black top driveway and mark out what seems to give us working room all the way around and see how it measures out.I think my biggest worry is good drainage all the way around the pad to keep the water out from underneath to try to stop the frost heaving.I am thinking footer drains all the way around tied into a existing drain system that takes the water away from the pole barn Bill
