Well, Gary, for the first time in a long time you are warmer than we are in SC. 28 here this morning, presently 52 at 6:35 EST.

Did the ground freeze very deep this winter? How about ice on the lake?

PS: Your Ioway girls came over to PeoRia, Ill last weekend and showed (thumped) our girls how to play in 16U volleyball.

No comment on Illini basketball!

Today was one of those days you lose every thing.

You take your gloves off cause your hands are plenty warm and you can't remember where you left them. Then the coat comes off and you get to the house for supper and you can't remember where that coat is that you will need tomorrow morning.

Most frost we had all winter was about 6 inches. Never enough ice for ice fishing.

One reason we raise good corn here in Iowa is the frost loosens up the soil for good root growth. Frost also kills a lot of pests when it freezes deep.

Even though it has been an warm winter I'm afraid we will pay for it.

LOL on the lost coat and gloves.

I don't remember any ground freezing this year except a little crust on top once or twice. It never gets cold enough here for ice on ponds, certainly not enough to walk on.

Our problem is not much rainfall this winter. The storm that produced those tornadoes got us maybe 1 1/2 inches.
