Best Lookin Tractor!

Just curious on some of your thoughts. I am a red guy so I really like the '66 Black stripe series for looks. I do at times see myself admiring an oliver 1850 or even a nice White with a cab. What are some of your beauties in your eyes?

The Oliver Fleetlines were quite the looker in their day. It was that big cast iron grill that took me back to the four digit Olivers for chore tractors.
Any orchard tractor is sharp. Moline UDLX,Oliver 70 with a Raby cab and wide front is about as sharp as the UDLX.

I like them all, especially the unstyled ones from before 1939. These were crude machines built for one thing, hard work. No thoughts to making them beautiful. They were considered beautiful if they could replace a couple of draft horses and run on kerosene.

There have been some ugly tractors built over the years, that's for sure. Personally, I feel that today's pickup trucks are the all-time ugliest. Tough-looking, yes, but ugly too.

Really like big cabless tractors with a matching ROPS. Things like 1466's, 1855's, and 2-105's. Y'know, big enough where they usually come with a cab, but have ROPS instead.

Deluxe series Cockshutts and the Raymond Lowey Styled 500 series Cockshutt's for the 5o's and the 60's repectively. Checkerboard 55 series for the 70's. White 2-135 and 2-155 for the 80's. Massey Harris had some nicely styled stuff in the 40's as did IH (That Lowey guy again!)
I might be a little biased for the Lowey styling though with a studebaker Avanti and 3 500 series Cockshutt's!

cubs? they are just soo darn cute. neighbor has a 1566 black stripe with no cab, duals, and a big ole chrome pipe. mean and loud. grinds feed pulls scraper

Styled Oliver 70's.
When I was a kid, we had an unstyled JD A and a Farmall F-20. Neighbors all had Oliver 70's with rubber on the front and tip toe rears. With that raked back look and slanted stering wheel with a neat dash they all looked like race cars to me in the early 40's.

then You Can understand WHy I like the DC CASE .. The 800 ,830 CASE wide fronts Have a commanding look ,, Always liked the Looks of a FORD 6000 Commander , But I don't want one ,, All Those mentionedare neat lookinb Tractors But uys Like me need them to Work Easily too ,, VERSATILITY is the Key ,,.. The Massey s had a nice lookin tractor in the late 60s and early 70s ,, Red and silver Really looked Nice to me ,,just sold my WD,,i liked it well enuf , but i feared i would end up walkin Lop-LegGed ,. LOL,,

No this one's legitimate. (however I took this picture about 6 years ago, I wonder if he still has it, should stop by and ask. He had it looking really good!)

i have a soft spot for the 30's also. my 1939 mccormick wd40 .

55 series olivers that are open station and possibly with duals.

Also like the white 2-105's with the lights on the front grill. Also like 20 series Deeres, 66 series IH's and Moline G1000 Vista. All the brands have a few real sharp looking tractors.

Never operated or owned, but my favorites would be the Minnie Mo G1000, Ford 8000 and 9000 series, and the International 966 and 1066 tractors. Of course I would have to include the JD 4000 & 4020 which I have spent some time on.

They all look good to me. I have some that have been listed here 9000 Ford, White 2-105 cab, and a 530 John Deere, wish for a MM 1000 and a IH black stripe, come on lotto.!

Its almost difficult to single one out from any manufacturer, if you appreciate many era's of tractors. I've always had a liking for hundred series fords, I like the color schematics of their entire line and models, like the big poster dealers had on the wall. We were a dealer, I did like the thousand series too, certain years, like early to mid 70's.

Then again, MM, JD, IH, Oliver, Fordson, M-F, Case and others all had several models that have the same appeal. MH and Cockshutt and Olivers from those early years were not too bad on the eyes, though many of them are NF and not a favorite.

There are some more modern ones, that I did not like the styling of, some of the Case models that were white, something about all those sharp angles, its funny, someone else may like that style and the overall look of it. I thought the 6000 ford commander was a real odd looking creature too, liked the color scheme a little though. First one I ever saw was in our shop for work, and even then (early 70's) it looked so much older than the thousand series on the lot. Not the best rep, but good to see some still around.

I liked JD new generation tractors, after the 2 cyl.were phased out.

I'm also a fan of the 30's and 40's caterpillar tractors.

For the most part, currently, I have an appreciation for the heavier utility and industrial models, most of them look the part and do important work, someday be nice to fool with one for show, but a well kept working model of many of the above would be more than welcome here, they all kind of grow on you, even though they represent work, nice to appreciate ones tools even when idle !

In pre 1960 which I consider old design antique tractors, I think the McCormick 9 Rice Field Special tractors are the best looking ever (WR-9, WDR-9, Super WDR-9, and WR-9S). In the post 1960 which I consider modern design antique tractors, I think a Farmall 1206 with open station, flat top white fenders, and tricycle front end is the best looking modern design tractor.

I'm with you. I'm partial to the Masseys though.

220 AC, 1175 case, 4020JD, 1066IHC, MM G1000, 9000 Ford, Heck any of them that dont need repairs are my favorite tractor,.

I love the looks of the IH 68 series with the V8 stickin outta the hood and the dual exhaust stacks, that always got my motor runnin. I also really like the Farmall 400/450 style tractors, the long sleek hood with all the curves unlike the squarness of the 60 series.

Like all tractors, but the odd balls are my favorites.

Orchard tractors, Narrows, crawlers, anything with unique attachments.

Nice! The 400 goes back to the days when it was more exciting when new tractors came out than cars. Your pictures are worth more than a 1000 words...

Well I'm so darned partial to the color blue that any blue tractor looks good to me. Ford/New Holland blue makes me lean back in my seat and give out a big sigh! Jim

About the most properly proportioned best looking tractor is a late chrome-grill IH 656. The flat-top fenders are exactly level with the long hood; seat, steering wheel placement is just right; exhaust well forward; spindles just the right height. Runners up: The right D-17, Ford 5000; Roll-a-matic 4020, G 950.

ya its mine and most of my tractors are rusty and red. i like to keep the nice originals like that. i shy away from the painted ones cause i am too fussy and the job has to be top notch. old stan reynolds from wetaskiwin told me about 35 years ago that anything in good original condition should be kept that way to be worth the most money. he just has recently passed away.

I like them all, but was always very partial to my old 895 Versatile. It was a real horse!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Graham Bradley. As far as pure beauty, this is about the prettiest tractor there is. A close second is the letter series Farmalls (A, B, C, H, M) including super's.
Good Luck and God Bless

Lets see. All time purtiest tractor would be the Ford 6000 in red and white or blue and white. Also love the IH 806 with the white fenders and white grill. Freshly painted 530/630/730 John Deere with wide front end and flattop fenders are nice also.

(quoted from post at 21:47:20 03/06/12) A few of my favs.

Rick KR -

What is that orange orchard tractor? - and is that a tiller on the back?

I have never seen one that looked anything like it. Quite unusual!

Here's a link to a website that shows one a neighbor did. Can't copy directly from their website, so here's a link to the page.

The 55 series Oliver w/ duals and ROPS seems to come up, so here's our 1855, dualed up & with a ROPS & canopy on it. Also has fuel tank fenders.

The 100 series Massey's are pretty good looking too when painted right.
