Categorey 1,2or 3

I have a Massey Ferguson 135 what cat number implements does it take .I know that a stupid question . I am looking at a subsoiler and board plow combo it says cat 1. will that work. Thanks for your help.

Mf 135 is category one. With correct bushings, you can category '0' stuff too.look to the left for 3 point specs.

But be careful with cat 0 tools, they were designed basically for garden tractors.

Cat 2 impliments may be able to be converted over to cat 1 by replacing the pins, but be careful that these impliments don"t overload your tractor.

There is apparently two Category 1 configurations. The standard is 26" wide and also a Category 1 for compact tractors. I think they are about 20" wide. I found this out one time when I was looking at a landscape rake. I was going to put it on my Case 630, but the Eagle hitch is fixed at 26".
For example, King Kutter has two lines of equipment, the yellow and the red/orange. The red/orange is for the compact tractors.

I've found that manufacturers are pretty loose with their interpretation of the categories and dimensions. Particularly the width between lower link pins. I found this very troubling with my Farmall 200, which has a 2 point system, which I converted to 3 point. Found that I had to measure everything, and often shim the mounting pins outward up to an inch or so to fit. With convential swinging 3 point arms, this would not be a big problem.

You have cat 1.

0 is garden tractors, sometimes you can make those fit by adjusting your chains/blocks/let it swing.

1 is common for 20-50 hp tractors.

There is a modified cat 1 for sub compact tractors with short arms, the little 15-20hp fellas.

2 is for over 50 hp tractors, bigger pins, wider frame. A good cat 1 tractor near 50 hp you can probably adapt to fit, change the pins, adjust the arm stablizers, etc.

And so forth, cat 3, cat 3N, cat 4 - gets up to 500 hp tractors.....

Cat one, but if it has the removable balls (hair pin on each arm) you can put cat 2 balls in there and use a top link with Cat 2 holes.

If you have a choice, use Cat 2 and use bushings to reduce it to Cat 1..

That way, you are not limited to just Cat 1 equipment..

You are so right. My son got a little JD compact with a quick coupler. We have about 9 different 3 point tools. Just 2 of them hooked up without any modification. It has taken 2 years to get where they all would quick-couple. On the mounted hay rake and the tiller, have to have a pto extension. But it sure is nice now that can hook up with out getting off.
