Gas Prices Post Gone? What did I miss?

Went clear back to page 10, and it's gone.

I can only guess that someone got rambunctious with their comments, and whooooooossshhh!

I was the original post on this one, and I tried to keep my remarks pretty neutral and uncontroversial, but I guess......

Well, its handy to see what the rest of the country is seeing in cost to fuel our tractors and other machinery. I went to town last night for some tractor fuel. Ended up with 15 gal. for $54.00........It takes people pulling together to turn this trend around. I for one can't afford this kind of increase.

Gas is 3.90 here and on it's way to 4.25 probably.(soIN). There are a few on here that always derail this topic from economics to political rants. Then the thread evaporates.

I posted one Friday night, just aksing if anybody had a guess how long it would take to access my money if the little single location bank where I bank, was to blow away in a tornado. Last time I'd checked that night, there were just two or three replies about FDIC,estimates of two weeks, simple realistic answers like that. Yesterday morning, the whole post was gone. I don't know who or how, that one got responses that got it whacked, but it happened. Some people must be wound too tight.

I think the moderator does a pretty good job, all things considered. Sourgum, you're right.Y.T. is, after all, a business and can't scare potential customers away by getting a reputation that the forums are out-of -control political arguing; 90% of us are here because we have a old tractor and want to chat with unseen friends with the same interests. We need to get away from that political stuff for awhile. But..... Hay Man is also correct, this issue, among other things, needs to be addressed now and then. If we go too far and it gets poofed, no matter. We always seem to find a way around it anyway. We make that moderator earn his money, that's for sure!

We were told that if we bought last week we could get the 93 octane we get in for 4.05 but it is winter blend and they will not get summer blend in till after the first of April. We use about 1000 gal. of gas thru the year and around 12-1300 of diesel. Going to have to cut back on Pepsi and C/R and BEER . If we cut back on farming and only did what we needed to live and not worry about the rest we could really cut fuel back.

Frankly I miss the political discussions, and wish they did not get poofed so frequently.

I have a fair idea who the people are on this forum, older, rural, ag oriented, able to work with their head and their hands, some very religious. I weigh and value their opinions.

I don't see any let-up in gasoline prices with world demand growing, unrest in oil producing areas and no real energy solutions/policy here.

I like to hear what you have to say about issues like fuel prices and what we should do about it.

I think we all need a place to discuss real issues...that said I don't like the ranters, especially the one issue haters. Wish we could do it more often and with respect.

Gas in W. Michigan is $3.95-4.00/gallon. I don't drive any more than I have to. High gas prices affect everything: food, synthetics, cutting wood, tourism, etc. We've had an energy department for over 40 years and still don't have a policy; the current policy is to get us off fossile fuels. How do we run cars and trucks on wind and solar? IMO, we should be drilling everywhere we can. More oil on the market brings prices down.

One more point about discussions on this forum.

I am free to read or not read, click or not click.

I rarely read the religious, prayer request, or health discussions, but since I don't click on them their presence is not a concern for me.

So why is a political discussion a problem for other readers? Just don't click!

yesterday gas was $3.99. this am it had droped to $3.79 cant figure out what is going to happen tomorrow. wally

" more oil on the market will bring prices down"

Great sentiments but would I be a pessimist if I suggested it is orchestrated in such a way to only release sufficient on the market to maintain the high prices and if there is an abundance, the wells will be capped for later use. There is no collusion out there. ahm.

Oddly enough, regular is higher than road diesel by me in Bristol for the first time I can recall in ages. For the longest time, it was even much higher than Premium.

Road Diesel 3.96, Regular $4.00, Premium $4.20.

"So why is a political discussion a problem for other readers?"

The problem with political discussions is they ALWAYS get out of hand. "Civil political discussion" is an oxymoron.

That gas price thread stopped being about gas prices, and started being about politics, then devolved into name-calling.

The moderators give us a HUGE amount of leeway on this forum. It is "Tractor Talk" after all... We're supposed to be talking about TRACTORS, not politics, yet they let it slide until things get messy.

Count the "poofed" threads among your many blessings. Odds are if they were allowed to continue we wouldn't all be friends anymore.

That is exactly my point. The political discussions are obviously uncomfortable to you....so don't read them.

There are millions of things on the internet that are of no interest to me, so I don't read them...or follow the thread.
