Just got bought a fuel tansfering tank and the guy that owned it before me said he used it for diesel, then after that he used it for gas. now it smells like it has a mixture of each in it.i was wanting to put diesel in it for my tractor but not sure if it would be ok. what could i use to rinse it out that would be safe?

If there's no liquid in it now, go ahead and use it for diesel. If there's stuff in it, better drain it and let it dry before use.

I would make sure there is no sedelment in the botom. The % of gas don't matter.
We add a little gas to our fuel in real cold weather.

Crap- I used to know that, about switching between gas and diesel! Yes, some issues. Bottom line, use a filter in the system. I"ve had pickup tanks for decades, always had a filter on both gas and diesel. Sold a 1000 gal gas tank to my renter a few years ago, he wanted it for diesel, never heard any repercussions, but ?

Pump what you can out and put the diesel in. No need for any special procedures. Your diesel engine will be happy with it. BTDT.

It depends on how big the tank is as to how much you can leave in the tank.
Since this is most likely a very small tank (less than 100 gallons) I would drain as much as I could out of the tank (say 1 gallon or less) and then fill it up.
A small amount of gas run threw a diesel motor will not hurt anything.

Tyler I spent 14 years in the fuel industry, drain any mosture and fill with diesel, buy a good filter, not one with a plastic housing and use your tank.
