Want your opinion on the best haying tractor

I'd like to find out a few good tractors that would be good for pulling a 5x6 round baler, 9' discbine, and a 15' batwing mower. I'd prefer the tractor to have at least 90 hp at the pto and have a cab as well. Any year is fine, but parts should be easily to get.

IH Hydro!!826,1026,Hydro100,186.I have a 826 Hydro-
LOVE IT!

What dod you have for local dealers? Dealer support should be a factor. I would agree that a Hydro would be great. Balers are hard on clutches.

JDB is correct; nearest "helpful" dealer is first consideration then
anything with a powershift, hydro, TA,COM, so speed can be
adjusted without clutching and stopping.

I drove my friends IHC 986. It was difficult to get on/off,hard to get in gear and operate scv's. Other than that it was good on fuel. I'll stick to my JD 4255.

I"ve made thousands of bales with a 1486. I have no problem getting it in gear or operating the scvs. I would rather get in and out of my backwards door(s) than a sound guard cab.

How much $$ are we playin" with???

LOTS of tractors come to mind, but all have different prices.

(quoted from post at 12:58:11 02/28/12) I"ve made thousands of bales with a 1486. I have no problem getting it in gear or operating the scvs. I would rather get in and out of my backwards door(s) than a sound guard cab.

And I'd rather operate the gearshift and remote handles that are nearly level with the seat arm rest that are on a JD than lean over next to the floor to operate the same thing on an IHC. I agree that the safest way to exit a 986 model IHC is "backwards".

76/7710 Ford, though they are a few horses shy of 90
(if stock). My cousin did custom round baling for
several years with a 7710. Worked well. TW5 or 15
might be a little better on the discbine.

I was HOPING it was NOT alflafa for that reason. But looks like an uncut alfalfa patch in the back.

Ford 7710. Give the screw half a turn and it will make the 90 easily.
Discbine and baler should be no issue anyhow. Batwing might be a load in heavy going...

Only 3 votes on here for ford. I thought that was strange, ??someone years ago told me a Deere will work circles around a ford? I just laughed. In tractor pulling they say "nothing runs like a Deere except a bad aZz international! Or how do u kill a Deere? With a magnum! Lol

I second that Hydro nomination. The IH Hydrostatic drive tractors are/were the best tractor ever designed for doing haying type work.

Since no one has mentioned it.. Lets just get a new 9540 4 whel cab Kubota o and add the loader.

Well since you gave us a blank check to work with here goes:
1) JD 7410
2) JD 4050 or JD 4055
3) White 2-105
4) White Agco 120
5) Ford 7710
older ones
1) JD 4230
2) JD 4320 Cab not the best on these but run sweet
3) IH 186 Hydro: Hydro is great. The cab is terrible
