Wanting to put rubber on my A JD rear steel wheels and do away with the lugs so I can parade it easier. What is the best way to cut old rear tires and have a nice clean cut.

Sawzall with a coarse wood blade about 6" long.I cut the sidewall out of on yesterday to make a hay feeder .

If you want a nice clean cut that is also sealed I have used a melt cutting blade on a circular type saw. Makes a lot os smoke and is slow going but due to the fact it heat up the rubber it also seals the cut area

Do what I did .I get our semi tires recapped so I got some out of style recap rubber from my recapper.I comes in roles so you have to do is measure the cicumrise cut and bolt on with carrige bolts.you can get a good deal on the old rolls they have some where in the back of their warehouse.

Does it have tiptoe wheels? If so, you will have to build some road bands for it first.

I found that a sawsall worked the best. It was still not a fun job.

I believe that "Miller Tire", a firm that caters
to the old car/truck/tractor hobby, has strips
in their catalog, that you can purchase for
that. Just google Miller tire..or.. they have ads
in a lot of the old car, old truck, old tractor,
magazines.
