been waiting to find a '54 super h.(to restore) Now I found an early '53 super h for $1500. Should I continue to wait for one or should I just buy it and hope to find a '54 someday?
 
Depending on where you and the tractor are located, that plus its condition, plus your desire determines its value. If its something that you have been waiting to but for some time, $1500 would sound reasonable. If its needing alot of work and parts, that may devalue the unit substantially. If you are all tooled up and ready to go, then go for it. $1500 isn't too far out of line and you may be able to roll it for some profit to go towards your 54 model.
 
I have a 53 or 54 super h that had the case cracked on it decades ago. It was my uncles and I remember them switching it out and saying the seriel number tag was wrong for the tractor. Would the motor seriel # give me the year?
 
Really are different machines. a Stage I Sh will not have live hydraulics (and other pieces) that make a Stage II more desirable. I like them all, but they are hard to find for that reason. Jim
 
I am in the process of getting a stage 11 super H running right now. I have the distributor with drive and carburetor laying out in my garage ready to put back on one of these days when I can work it into my schedule. Guy says it hadn't run for five or six years. I would guess more than that. He talks about selling it as he wants to get a ford 8n or 9n I guess. West central MN.
 
Other than the live/dual hydraulics and the Super C seat what is missing? We got a good deal on a Stage I put a live pump on her and love it! We don"t have the dual hudraulics which we don"t need we are very happy with it! Haven"t had to mess with the darn seat bushings or put the toy ball in the seat like we have had to do on the SC and SM either! 1500 if it"s decent shape...I"d grab it...always sell it later and get a Stage II when ya find one!
