listening to books

Wife bought me a I pod and down loaded books for me to listen to when driving semi.Amazing how much it holds as far as hours of listening.The book I just got done listenig to is atlas shrugged.Its amazing how the subject matter in that book is slowly coming true of our gov .It was written in 1957.I sugest listening to it .it is 50 hrs long took me about 3 weeks of off and on listening to go through it.

I discovered the joy of listening to recorded books a few years back. A local flee market takes a few in regularly and I pick over them. Then of course, there's the local library's collection. Ebay is also a good source. I listen while going to and from work everyday. I have "listened" to several books that I would not have actually sat down and read.

I'm glad it works for you. I can read all afternoon but listening my mind wanders. I must be wired for video and not audio. I have been reading a couple books on the development of the reaper and I just started on Carl Sandburg's "Lincoln"

I would listen to them when I drove truck. I would get them at the library and go through a couple books a week. If you are traveling you can rent them at Cracker Barrel and return them at any store. I had a portable cassette player, which I still use. I could hit start and stop and always keep my place in the book. I retired from my truck driving job but still do a book every few weeks around home instead of watching the crap you get on TV. I guess I'm like my grand kids and I like to be read to rather than reading a book to myself.

I do not even turn on a radio and that would be 10 times worse than the radio.

Wife and I like audio books for long trips- makes the miles fly by. I find that I often have trouble "getting into" a book I'm reading, and give up after 20 pages or so. Audio books kind of push you along, and I don't have that problem with them.

A Kindle will read any book you can down load on to it to you. There are a lot of free books available for it....My wife gave me a Kindle for Christmas and I"ve really enjoyed it

Atlas Shrugged is a must read/listen to. Like its a playbook for our times.

Almost got one myself.... Not much of a reader but really like Louis Lamour books.... Only books for kindle I could find were as expensive as a new paperback....
