Got a L10 cummins that is getting fuel into the radiator. I am thinking injector tubes but not sure. Anyone an expert on these engines? I would apreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Normally injector tube is the place to look,

but it could be cracked internally from fuel

passage to water( should put water back into

fuel also ). I had a 290 big cam open up

inside from fuel passage to intake runner,

boy you talk about destruction of pistons.

Good friend of mine has a 80's GMC Astro with a cummins, however, I know it's not a L-10, but doing the same thing..

They diagnosed his as having a bad head(s).. It's in the shop now gettin worked on.. He has not said if it was in fact the head, or something else.

I ran a Terra-Gator for a few years that had the L-10 in it, however, we never had that problem since I been here (but seeing them kind of hours, I'm sure they've dealt with it a time or 2.. The gator I ran had nearly 20k hours on it)

Not really sure... but I know L10's were rather known for head problems. It's got a one piece head that could easily be cracked. Hold on to the wallet.

On my old big cam 1 they called it a copper arond the injetor. At that time just R&R the head that wasn't bad , in 1985 they cost 140.00 to swap it out. I bet it's a lot more now. The c12 I have now is costly for any repair's.

Hello dieseldoc,
L10 had head gasket sealing problems. It sounds as if you have to take the head off. It is either
the gasket or the head. If you fine the gasket to be O.K. no harm done. You take the head to the machine shop for pressure testing. Injector tubes and water passeges will be pressure tested.
If the head is not cracked, the fuel injector tubes are likely the culprits.
Guido.
