Leaking spark plugs

I have been working on a 1919 Waukesha engine. I am have troubles with the spark plug threads leaking. The spark plugs for this engine have tapered thread. Can you get heli coils for tapered plugs? Other than using heli coils, does anyone have a better idea to correct this problem.

Do they use Gaskets...or are they machined to match a taper around the threads.???

I would think one or the other..??

Quite likely they are 1/2"NPT pipe threads, same as a Model T Ford or early John Deere D. No gasket needed, but you may need to re-tap them. Just be careful not to go too deep, just enough to clean up the threads.

Some good old fashoned pipe dope if you can find some,or even maybe some teflon tape ?
