Rubber dust boots for old tractors?

Hi, where do you guys get replacement boots for your old tractors? I need a couple of dust boots, like the one under the hand brake on my old Ford 5000.

But it seems to me that if I could find one in a junk yard, it would be just as old and dried out, probably cracked. What do you guys do for old rubber parts?

Thanks,

Troy

is it to keep dust off the spring or from getting down in that hole? Or both?

May not be the prettiest, but I bet you could whip up sumpin with a chunk of innertube and a hot glu gun. Maybe some RTV to help out...

I always look modern stuff over, for instance, most tractors have a cab, even garden tractors, that means boots on many controls. Look thru aftermarket parts catalogs, all brands, Is there something there that I can adapt? In your pic, would a gear shift boot fit in there?

There is a dust seal shown below the spring part # 81816721 which is still available. There does not appear to be one shown to cover the actual spring. Hard to tell from the picture, but what about a brake rod seal part # C5NN2N336A. It "might" cover the spring. My $.02.

measure the area and note the shape you want the boot to cover, several options if the original [ posted below] cant be found, one is to look at modern excavating equipment, ie loaders, backhoes, excavaters ect they have boots over their control sticks ill bet one of them will be real close to what you need, also some forgine cars have a "lace up" gear shift boot, allowing some flexibility for you to fit it to your tractor

I bought a boot for the shift lever on my D19 right here on YT a coupla years ago.

Didn't last six months. It split as bad as the original one I took off.

Two possibilities come to mind. 1) how about the rubber boot for a CV joint on a front wheel drive car? 2) Motocross dirt bikes have long rubber boots to cover the suspension on the front forks. Have a variety of sizes and lengths, might be able to work up something from that. Go to e bay and search on fork boot or cv joint boot and you will see thousands.

Mike and Trac1, yes I did go to the dealer, and the two hole boot was still available ...but it was $58...

I figured I'd let them keep it. The inner tube fix will come before that!

I do like the ideas brought up so far though. Started painting the old beast today. Fresh paint really looks good on a tired old tractor.

Have a great weekend!
Bye for now,

Troy

Steiner sells em, too, I think. AC boots are cheaper, from agco, than from steiner, though, don't know about dorf's
