Compared with operating and restoring an old car or truck, you don't have to deal with:
auto insurance, ad valorem taxes, etc. every year;
spending a ton on interiors such as reupholstery, carpet, headliner, dash pad;
having to chrome plate bumpers (very pricey) and all the small pieces;
electrical systems, if it's a crank-start tractor;
expensive exhaust systems that rust out in a few years;
hydraulic brakes that leak and fail from lack of use;
pristine paint jobs;
air conditioning systems that inevitably die;
radios, 8-tracks, speakers, etc.
Certainly, the tractor hobby should be inexpensive and affordable. Then why does it cost so much?
