Hand Cleaner...Pumice or Smooth?

I like the way the pumice gets into the cracks in the skin and cleans them up.The bad part is that stuff always leaves my skin dry even after washing them immediately after using the stuff.

another hand cleaner to try is==
soap powder and grits, yes grits. You may get to like grits yet. Mix a paste of your favorite soap powder and then add grits to sub for pumice.

Diesel fuel at nearly $4 a gallon!!!!!!You spendthrift JMOR! Or are you using red dyed diesel?(Grin)

Permatex corp. Fast Orange with Pumice.
I have been in greasy things (ever completely grease a SP-125 IH combine?)
It is a fine product!! Jim

Ajax dishsoap in a squeeze bottle. Used to have a gallon jug of hand cleaner with pump. Pump was always getting stopped up, wasted too much time getting it to work....and in the trash it went.

Problem with the handcleaners with abrasive in them is that the plastic hand pump wears out before the jug is half used!

I like the pumice where I have water( yes I also think it cleans the best) to rinse off, in my pick up I keep it with out so I can just use a clean towel to wipe it off

This is probably giving me cancer, but...

I use powder dishwasher soap. It has the pumace and when you add water it heats up. That's the part that always freaks me out but I only use it after a big repair. It works wonders.

If they are both the same price, I get the pumice. If pumice costs more, I get the plain. I can always get some dirt, for abrasive action!

I have the same problem with dry hands after pumice cleaner. Use AQUAPHOR after cleaning. It is available in pound jars in any drugstore. A little bit goes a long ways

Neither one, I use dawn dishwashing liquid, put on dry, rub in, then add hot water. 49.99 for a 5 gallon pail....

With a septic system, I try to avoid the pumice. Probably not enough volume to worry about, but.....

I use the smooth, you need water to get the other stuff off.I probably use it 20 times a day. With the pumice i'd be in the restroom washing my hands half the day.

I use Kresto hand cleaner. Requires use of water, but uses walnut shell for grit. I like it better than any waterless hand cleaner.

local machine shop has a wall mounted Amco dispenser that has dry hand cleaner in it, it really works good, Zep has a good product with lanolin, we use the jd stuff with pumice at work, gojo and permatex also work good

Being out in the field, where there usually isn't any water, I much preffer the smooth since it wipes off better. Personally I've tried both and have never seen that big of a difference in the cleaning capabilities of either one, especially for the ground in stuff. The best way I've found to get your hands clean is a little it of hydraulic fluid.

Stoko or Kresto, both have walnut shell scrubbers in them. Both work really well on grease/oil and keep you hands in good shape too.

My MIL, bless her heart, she just turned 99 on Friday. She used to make homemade lye soap. It was a concoction of lye, chicken fat and 20 Mule Team. She made it up in a rectangular pan and then would cut it up into bars. She would sell it at the farmers market in town.

I heard all kind of stories from healing skin rashes to stopping itching. She always had shavings of the soap left over after she cut the mixture up into bars, then she used the shavings to wash clothes in the old 1936 Maytag Ringer wash machine.

Funny thing, she hasn’t made soap for about 10 years and I still got people asking about it.

I do have a couple of bars left and a bucket of shavings, still have the old Maytag and she’s still kick’n at 99. Musta been something in that old lye soap. :)
