spreading soda lime

I have access to about 1200 lbs of free soda lime (75% calcium hydroxide) - just wondering if anyone has ever spread this? Any stories or cautions I should know about?
I've got a 3 acre trial plot with 6.2 pH I plowed up last fall that I'd be curious to try it on. I was planning on planting alfalfa and brome with a dose of P and K.
thanks for any input

I had never heard of it for ag use so I did a little searching on the internet.

Have you read up on soda lime?

How are you handling it?

Sounds like it toxic to handle it because of the dust.

Nothing I found said to spread on soil.

Sounds like it gives off a gas when mixed with water.

I think I would let whoever has it to dispose of it properly.

Like Gary says it is very corrosive as in caustic. A little bit will go a long way. It would be to steel like road salt is, but ten times worse. So you would need just a very light application and don't get it in contact with skin or steel. You would need to have it wet so that it can't blow around.

It looks to be 3% sodium hydroxide and 1% potassium hydroxide - that's the corrosive part. 75% is calcium hydroxide which is supposed to be 1.35 times more calcium than the Ca content in aglime. Looks like I'll only have access to about 700 lbs, so I'll try spreading it on a 3 acres plot that I'll be plowing this coming fall.
Thanks
