Plow for Super M

nh,

I agree with Tom 43. When I was row-cropping with a Super M, I pulled 3-14's quite handlily. I had a disconnect on the hitch and when I would hit an occasional large rock, the plow would disconnect from the tractor.

My plow had a manual lift on it that was operated by a rope that I pulled at the end of the row. I only tied it fast to the tractor one time. When I hit that first rock, the plow disconnected and so did the rope!

Good luck,

Tom in TN

A Super M is rated to pull 3-16's and should do it with no problem in normal soils. I pull 3-14's with my regular M that hasn't been souped up. With any tractor if you get into harder soil you have to shrink down the size of the plow.

I use to help a neighbor plow in the spring. He had two super M's and we pulled 3-16's on a sandy loam. Most the time third gear on level ground and second in hills.

We pulled 3-14s in a connover loam soil she was
pretty much stock and snorted a bit if we were
prepping a hay field for wheat after second cutting.
The sod and alfalfa roots and the dry ground made
her work a bit. Plow was a 3 bottom John Deere with
hydraulic lift, loaded tires with no additional
weights.

something wrong with that tractor if it wont pull 3-16's in good ground in 3rd. gear. its rated a 3-16 tractor also.

What gear where you using? Second or third?

Bring that M to my farm with the 3-16. Bet you won't go 100 feet at 8 inch depth. My 60 horsepower Case 700 is well suited to my Oliver 3-16 and in hard ground I use my Case 2-16 plow. Have seen this plow make it smoke in 4 th gear.
