OT. can anyone help me with a foolproof method to remove frozen/ stuck manifold studs from ford aluminum heads without twisting them off. all sugestions would be appreciated. also best way to remove broken ones.thanks popcorn

I use a stud remover on the ones that stick out enough to get one on. Seems they usually break off flush or below, so I use Mig welder to build them up till they stick out far enough to weld a nut to that, then they usually come right out. Sometimes the nut twists off a few times before it comes, gotta be patient. Forget drilling, most of them are stainless.

There is no foolproof way, but I have had good luck, by first giving a spay of penetrating oil, then slightly tightening the nut, then another shot of oil, then a 3/8 impact gun, in reverse. You move the nut as far as it will willingly go, then change direction, and re-oil.
