I just about fell for this one. I got a message from paypal, that said someone tried to acess my account, and I needed to log into my account. I started by putting in my paypal
pass word, then the next window wanted all me personel info. That is when a red falg in my head went off. I called paypal they said the message was not from paypal. I changed my password, so I should be ok. This happened to my wife from a bank she gave some scumbag everything but the kitchen sink. Be careful out there. Stan

I got that one, once, too. I deleted it without opening it.

I get all sorts of wierd stuff, "Final notice from the FBI before we come to arrest you", junk like that. I just click them over to "Spam" without opening them. In fact, anything I don't recognize goes to Spam. I even sent a letitimate business email to Spam, once.

A coupla days later the guy called on the telephone and wondered why I hadn't responded. I told him if he put his real name and organization on an email, instead of just his email address, so I'd know who he was, I'd open it. I think it was a learing experience for him.

If I ever get anything by email asking for a response I call the normal service number and not take a chance responding to the email.

Pay Pal will send a heads up email when your credit card is about to expire.

The thing to do then is get off of email and go to Pay Pal's website to update it.

If you EVER get an email from a bank, Paypal, Ebay, or whatever. NEVER click on any link within that email. Only use your own well established link, or the access your account thru the company website directly. Any link within such an email will 99.9% of the time be bogus and a very dangerous scam.

I just about fell for one of those ( I think it was from "ebay") when I was new to the web and green as a gourd. I've been more wary ever since. I hear people all the time comment on how their acct has been hacked etc etc. Hacked heck, You GAVE them your password.

I recieved the same message and called Pay Pal and asked for "agent" and talked to a human that informed me this was a phishing e-mail.

I'm for putting authors of virus etc before a firing squad or at least 10 years of hard labor, this would discourage these perpetrators.

I had a phone solicitor call last week trying to sell me first aid kits, shop tools etc and after several tries I told him I was not interested. He said he was going to send me two first aid kits and I told him I didn't want them. Then he got mean and said he was going to send them anyway and if I didn't pay he would ruin my credit. He didn't have my credit card number that I knew of but I called the credit card company anyway and they told me I couldn't block this vendor from putting something on my card. Then they told me that my only recourse with a bogus charge was to dispute the charge and fight through the card company's appeal process. I canceled that card and now have another.

I do not worry about any one getting my banking information from my computer. As I do not do any fincial business on the internet. The only information about me that I put on the internet is the same information you can find in the local telephone book.
