Brother stopped to talk to local tractor mechanic he sold him this 4230 dead out in the woods several miles away. Took our loader, truck, and trailer and retrieved it. Checked it over, tightened up starter, put in battery,and it fired right up.

A diamond in the rough. My son bought a 4040 about 3 yrs ago. They said hadn't done anything but drove it for 10 yrs. Looked like yours, only his has a cab. It is beat up on every panel. Only believe it or not the Air was cold, after got the blower to run. Needs a cab kit really bad. The tach works and shows 8900 hrs. We have gradually fixed everything so it works. Put a new top on the cab. When the going gets tough the Deere's get going. Vic

wow looks pretty rough. considering its a deere it was probably still 5k ish?

You plan on redoing it? Best of luck to you. They are a good tractor when in good condition.

We bought it to part out thinking motor was stuck(muffler was stolen). 4980 hrs Don't know what we will do with it.
