TO20 overheated

quick story, my TO20 lower radiator hose had a hole, apparently leaked all coolant out before I started the tractor. I ran it for about 10 minutes easy, before I smelled the remaining coolant boiling away. I shut it down immediately. Since then it starts, runs and sounds fine. Any block damage? Pull the head and look?

Takes a good bit of hot to hurt and engine unless you filled it up with coolant when it was hot and the engine was not running. This is one of those why fix someth8ng that is not broken. It is common for me to run one with out coolant for 5 or so minutes when doing work on it

Wait and see, no reason to get excited till you see some signs of problem. I would think that you may be OK. I'd just watch your oil level and rad for a while and hope for the best. Rocko.

By shutting it down immediately, you may have saved the day.Pleased to see you did not attempt to water it up when hot as some would do.

northvale........iff'n yer paranoid about it, do the infamous compression test. OHV engines do WARP and will loose coolant into yer engine from BAD GASKET. .........Dell

Well if you fixed the hose filled it back up with the correct coolant your probably good to go and me I would not worry about it. Believe it or not it is pretty hard to hurt and engine by getting it warm like you did and by shutting it down when you noticed it was hot well you saved it.
