Ford N Series serial number

Hi I have got what I believed to be a Ford 9N its got no tin work on and no wheels I found the serial number but it began with NAN then the number and not 9N or 2N etc any thoughts anyone??

Are you sure it's not NAA. If it is, the year would be 53-54.
 
Pretty sure it's NAN 4 something that I thought was around
1940/41 it's on the ground in a barn over here in the UK I
thought it should start with 9N the rest of it looks just like a 9N
the big hubs on the rear and has an alloy steering box and
gear cover it's in a bad way but I restore tractors for a living so
I might get it done one day but I know nothing really on the N
series tractors so any thoughts would be great
 
3 speed of 4 speed transmission??? Are the radius rods the I-Beam type or the tube type?? If it has NAN on it the it could maybe have been an air port Military tug type tractor from WW2
 
What they where was a tractor that was used to move air craft around and the U.S. Military would buy them and have them set up for moving air places around. Pretty much the same as the farm tractor but just a little different. As to what all is different I can not tell you since I have only heard of them but never seen one. You might go down to the 9N/2N/8N forum and ask there will be people there that might be able to fill in the blanks better
 
No hydrolicks or pto, armord heavy sheat metal hood and grill. Possibly hard rubber tires or an industrial type of tire like a truck tire.

A NAN sn indicates a gasolene/kerosene burning engine. Many were exported to or made in Europe.
