Not up for spending much time here yet,but has anybody else had this crappy flu or whatever it is?
The wife was down for two and a half days with it a week and a half ago. I came down with it a week ago. Had a fever from Wednesday til Sunday night. Chills, then sweat, over and over. Wasn't nausious, but couldn't eat a thing because of the fever. My voice is gone entirely, lips and tongue feel like they've been froze to a flagpole and tore loose. Just wore right out.
Getting off here and getting back in my recliner now.

Drink, drink, drink, till ya think you can't drink anymore... then drink some more.at least get some soup in you... get better...

I feel your pain. Heed the advice and drink all you can, hopefully work up to some broth then soup. Time is what it will really require.

We had the same symptoms back in 1957. We were in bed for a least a week. Our daughter was 3 then and she never had it and my mother-in-law stayed with us and she never caught the flu. We get flu shots every year. Hal

I been getting a flu shot every year, but something isn't right. The last episode I got started with a sore throat for about 3 days. Then a pause and a couple of days later I get a cough for 3 or 4 days. Well that leaves and then comes the aches and cold sweats. Last but not least then comes the run to the bathroom episodes. It is like it streches out over
a couple of weeks anymore. Confused in Pa. I am thinking no more flu shots for me........

Yeah, I had the works here two weeks ago. Started two weeks ago Wednesday night having trouble staying warm with nasty nausea and vomitting the next day along with the shakes. I had Ginger Ale and toast till Monday. The diarrhea ran from that Thursday for nearly a full week. I was weak as a newborn on that Thursday, too.

You"ve been conspicuous by your absence. Wondered what happened to you. Check further down the page (next couple pages,) there was a question for you. Hope you two feel better soon. Being a farmer with animals that think they need daily care, doesn"t cut a guy much slack for sick time.

They just take a guess last year at this time on what strain will be around and make for that and then miss the guess once in a while. Had it every year except one since it was avaible and the year it got missed is the year I got sick. Sure don't need it on top of just having surgery last week and to get stitches out next tuesday.

I got it in 1957. I was in basic training in Fort Carson Co. I was one of the first to get it I went on sick call, had 103 temp. They sent me back to the Co. with a buck slip. The dumb sargent gave me a wheel barrow and shovel and a dumber cadre member to make sure I worked. The next day on sick call an IG visited the dispensary. I think he is all that saved my life.
He asked a lot of questions that I was glad to answer; SIR. About the time I began to recouperate, they ran us all in a gave us a mega Flu shot.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Public Health said Tuesday that reports of norovirus outbreaks have been increasing in recent weeks in Iowa.

"With this virus in our communities and because it is so easy to spread, we need everybody to stay home when they are ill with diarrhea and vomiting," said IDPH Medical Director, Dr. Patricia Quinlisk. "There’s no nnalert and no antibiotics for norovirus. It can spread in food, in the air, by shaking hands and by touching things like door knobs that an ill person has touched. So the only way to stop its spread is for those who are ill to stay home."

Norovirus is sometimes called a stomach bug. Officials said symptoms usually include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach cramping.

Anyone can be infected with norovirus and become ill and you can get norovirus illness more than once. Norovirus can spread quickly from person-to-person, especially in crowded, closed places like schools, hotels and day care centers.

Common Ways To Get It

•Eating food or drinking liquids that are contaminated with norovirus (someone gets stool or vomit on their hands because they are ill, they then touch your food or drink).
•Touching surfaces or objects contaminated with norovirus and then putting your hand or fingers in your mouth.
•Being near someone who is vomiting or having diarrhea.
•Having direct contact with a person who is infected with norovirus (for example, when caring for someone with norovirus).

How To Stop It

•Stay home when ill and do not prepare food for anyone but yourself until three days after all diarrhea and vomiting have stopped.
•Wash hands frequently, especially after using the toilet and changing diapers, and always before eating or preparing food.

That stuff creates a big vacuum. Wife has had it twice this winter and I have had it once. The up-and-down winter temperature makes it tought to stay well.

Dave2 had the best advice. Force fluids! Gatorade is good if you can do ti. Chicken soup with lots of garlic helps a little. Vitamin C helps a little. Lysine helps with the inevitable cold sores.

I had it about two weeks ago. Hurt to lay down, hurt to set up. Friend sent me some peaches soaked in moonshine. Didn't cure anything but then I really didn't care. After I finished the jar.

I had a little bit of a cold a couple weeks ago but that is about it. The V.A. makes sure I get a flu shot every year and I can not remember the last time I was really down with the flu or any such thing but I do eat organic and I do not get around a lot of people so that all helps and when I do start coming down with something I eat more garlic and Jalapeno pepper type stuff

That is the wrong attitude, flue shots cover about 10 types, this maybe the 11th, next year it might be included. So are you contented to now have the other 10 also?

read this.

My wife works in a Doctors office/clinic. She said they have not really seen alot of flu this season. She gets a flu shot, Mandatory, I do not. She does have a cold with a cough for the last week though.

Hope you feel better real soon!

I had a fever last friday night. Felt so so on saturday, just fine on sunday... Fast forward to today... Sore throat, runny nose, and conjunctivitus... This sucks. Hope you get well soon, and me too.

Get the flu shot every year. So far I am batting 17/19. One year got flu-like symptoms. Other year full blown flu. I"ll keep getting the shot. So far this year I am fine.

I"ve got it now. Came on quick and has had me in bed for 2 days. This fever is wearing me out, cant hardly sleep due to chills. The worst part is I"ve been on the road working and I cant give my little ones (or Momma) hugs and kisses.

Got going on in Nursing Home. Wife had it a week ago. I have had it for a couple of days. They have the doord posted fur people to stay out.
