Used Fry Oil In My Oil Furnace? - in-too-deep

50 years ago I had a Coleman oil furnace in a Mobile home. This furnace didn't use pressurized oil and a nozzle. The fuel tank had to be above the carburetor. You had to light the furnace using paper. It had a standing pilot. Bet this furnace would burn almost anything. Good luck finding one. I took this furnace out of the trailer and it's been stored in my garage for over 40 years. Sorry it's not for sale. Someday I may use it for burning used motor oil.

still real common here as space heaters... can pick them up for a couple bucks on ebay and would prolly handle a 50/50 mix real good...

i have one of those I use to heat my garage, used to heat our house when I was a kid. I use whatever is cheapest at the time, kero, diesel fuel, heating oil. I have blended in used trans fluid before at about 25% without any problems.

We had one that we used for heating our living space in upstairs of an old farm home, when we were first married. Worked pretty well. Don't remember the name, wasn't Coleman. Should have burned about anything oil. I was at our local oil change place the other day. Very cold outside, very cold inside. Their waste burning oil furnace wouldn't run in temperatures below 55 degrees, or so they said.

Hmmm. Thanks for that tip. Think I'll just keep my current furnace...but maybe a coleman like you mentioned for a shop someday.

When wife and I were first married 40 years ago we bought an old mobile home that had one of them. Was using it while I remodeled trailer before moving in. Fire in pot went out, and I caught it just as oil was running over the sides of the burn pot. Ig to replaced with a gas furnace before we moved in.
