Might Not Be Much, But I'm Bull Headed!

Hi Guys,

'Member me belly-achin' bout the "moaning" noise between 40 and 58 mph on my old truck?

Took me 4 months to find that sucker, but at long last that awful noise is gone!

Lower air dam was busted off and the new part cost $7 on ebay. :>)

Oh heck,

This has been a month ago now. Going out to feed cattle one day and the wind was blowin' 'bout 50 knots.

Noticed that on the hi way, the noise was gone when I was with the wind, but came back with a vengeance at an even lower 25mph when I faced into the wind.

Still and all, I did everything under the sun to try and find that rascal. Just couldn’t put my finger on it.

It was embarrassing. Going thru town, and if the wind was just right, people would turn and look the darn noise was so loud.

Sounded just like an output shaft bearing going out. But really, really loud! And at hi way speeds, there was this "singing" noise which seemed to come from the front differential.

Finally in desperation, I threw my hands in the air, gambled the $7 and won on both counts. :>)

I have a similar story. Iused to have "76 Toyota Corolla atation wagon. It had two ujoints and a center support bearing. i heard a growling noise around 45-55 mph and so I convinced myself it was a u joint. I replaced both joints(one at a time) as well as the center bearing. Still had the noise. After a lot of searching I found out that there was a plastic door in the fresh air system that got unhooked from it"s control cable and when you went fast enough if was flapping in the fresh air duct and growling like a worn u-joint. i hooked up the control canble and th noise went away.Talk about being PO"d!

So who polished out the paint? Local detail shop? Or are you heating the shop? LOL
Heck, you can triple your money on that rascal now.

A friend of mine had a bad noise one time, looked all over the truck, carried it to the dealer still no luck finding the very loud noise. 3 weeks later his wife was washing it and found a peice of card board 2" wide and 6" long taped between the cab and bed. At 45 mph it would raise all kind of sand. Sounded like the truck was falling apart.

Remember the old Lincoln Continentals - had a chrome strip across the top of the bumper cover. Would come loose across the middle, leaving only ends attached. Standing still they would sit down flush with bumper, but at certain speeds you could see them flapping away. Bet that drove owners to frustration. Saw that happen on a number of different Lincolns.

never mind the truck, you promised guitar music,I havent seen or heard any! If you dont play soon I will be forced to send my gut wrenching music over the air again! Have a heart to all t talk people and send some of your great guitar music!

Good find Allan. I had a chrome windshield trim that did that and drove me crazy.

Now it's time to think about a fresh paint job on that old horse.

Good going Allan. I had one on the old Dodge that drove me crazy. Turned out to he the passenger side lower shock bolt was worn.

Is that a 2500? I don"t believe those heavy ones (8600 gvw) came with a front air dam like the half tons did. My brother has a 98 2500 diesel, and he added one to his, as he thought it looked better.
