marine on trial

Just read about that Marine on trial at Pendleton. Seven years and they finally have resolved their situation. As an older member of the USMC, Korea, Our first of many mistakes of our leadership. Seems as though they wiil reduce the charges to dereliction of duty and all that goes with that. It seems the USMC has denigrated to the PC mode that is so popular today. IN MY NOT SO HUMBLE OPINION he should be promoted and given a medal for all the aggravation he has endured. Just my rant from an older Marine. Thanks for listening CC

What is he on trial for? The aggravation he endured was of his own choice. He chose to join the marines. He chose to put his life in harms way and all that it entails. You make your bed, and you have to sleep in it.

You forget one thing. Yes, he chose to join the military. Beyond that some desk jockey, (ie- senator, congressman, the president, the medial, etc, etc, etc) are the ones that actually made the bed for him. I say that because he joined the Maries with the idea of serving his country and with the knowledge that when he was sent into combat he would be allowed to protect his life as well as his buddies lives without question. Unfortunately between the politicians and the medial and their idiodic desire to be PC, even in a war zone, was not his choice anymore than it would be your's if you were placed in the same situation.

What many people fail to understand is that in the Arabic culture even 'friendlies' are expected by their religion to house the enemy if so asked. For this reason, and may, many others, in an Arabic culture your dealing with a population that, in general, hates everything the US stands for and when dealing with the extreemists you can easily times that hatred by ten.

So, in the end you have a guy that did, in fact, enter the military of his own free will. Unfortunately once he signed those papers his free will was taken away and everything he does is now is now viewed in minute detail by those that set behind a desk somewhere and tell him what he can and can't do to protect his life as well as the lives of others.....who are more intent on being PC and not hurting the enemy than they are in insuring our guys have the authorith, permission, or whatever you want to call it, to do the job they actually signed up to do........... But that's the .02 of a Navy vet who has talked to enough enough Vietnam vets to know how it was for them, and then saw it for myself during the first Gulf War....

He chose to serve his country. He did not choose to get $h!t on for doing his job. If you know a way to fight a war without killing the enemy, please tell us.

Bleeding heart liberals with NO military time served. Spend time readying up to visit the rice paddies and your values get in line.

Personally I would start by reining it back to only killing the people who have guns. He wasn't on trial for killing Iraqi militants. He was on trial for killing Iraqi civilians.

Have a Grandson-in-law just came back from Afg. Numerous times he and his brigade were driving down a road and BOOM the hummer behind him goes up in a thousand pieces as are the body parts of his buddies. Okaye, 5 minutes ago your buddy was here and now he is in a thousand pieces. So you are supposed to kiss the a$$ of the POS's that just blew them up......urinnat_ on them and be proud of it........Semper Fi!.
